Hence the contract only being to the end of the season.

Generally he seems to be much less popular than Ranieri was or should I say people are less sympathetic to Hodgson..

Fans seem to hate Roy whereas Claudio got some leeway and often it was the players blamed for his sacking.

Is that due to the difference in personality and way they come across?

I would be happy with entertaining Championship football if I could watch it on a stream or even Hive live. One of the benefits of being in the EPL is that our matches are televised each week so us emigrants can pick up a stream to watch.

I think it's because the results have been so poor. Claudio had a really nasty run of fixtures, but still got notable results against Manchester United and Everton away. Hodgson has two narrow one goal wins away from home, with probably the only memorable result being an away 0-0 draw against Man Utd. The poor results that got Claudio the sack (losing to Norwich, thumped by West Ham) are no worse really than Hodgson (thumped by Man City, Palace, Wolves, and Leeds). We look better at the back, and I think Hodgson is a better coach, but we don't look any more likely to actually get points.

Must admit recent home games have been particularly disappointing- great chances to get points and nothing gained without even really looking like scoring or being threatening.

After some good away results too.

    Make it even more frustrating.

Agreed. Not being able to watch a stream of your favourite team is a ridiculous state of affairs really. 25 years ago in Australia, I found that the only club to offer even streamed highlights of their matches online was Dumbarton, in Scotland's 2nd. Division - and these days I can even stream live games from Highland League club Fraserburgh FC. So why not Watford?

No doubt something to do with TV rights...

I think that would be down to the EFL to decide. It was only brought in because of Covid and the current stats aren't the best - if they get any worse public pressure may sway them to re-introduce it.

"promoting home grown talent from the academy"

Any new manager will have a hard job doing that - there doesn't appear to be a lot there as far as I'm aware.:(

Probably not at U-23 level, but I have the impression that there is some real talent is in the younger age groups. The problem is to prevent the 'big clubs' hoovering up all this talent (especially when the Watford academy does not yet have category 1 status). A clear pathway to the first team might help Watford to keep some of that home grown talent.

Exactly - we’ve lost loads of 16/18 year olds

Probably because there has been no real pathway into our squad.

    And the big club vultures.

Brentford seem to be doing ok with just their B team - perhaps we would be better off adopting that idea? With all the hype our Academy has had in recent years, it hasn't actually been successful for us.

Not a pub quiz question , but...
Who was the last player to sign for Watford before he was 18 , and then was selected for 10 STARTING appearances in the first team ? ( I've chosen 10 , but it is a bit arbitrary. I mean a player who was a genuine first team choice. Sean Murray ?
