A bit I’m sure , but I just see his mobility and ease on the ball as better , but what I’m really impressed with is where people get these facts from so quickly . I try not to let facts get in the way of my opinions LOL I thought it took a long time at both premier clubs for him to look easy with the ball and at times I still do . But then Greaves isn’t there yet so I’m hoping he shines ( in a few years time)

Usual heated ‘discussion’ in the pub last night about the events at Bristol. Some lads genuinely thought the days of us getting done 5-0 against a then bottom six side where now long gone whilst others played the safety card and argued everything will be hunky dory come next season when the Big Turk starts spending some serious wonga. Without going OTT or pointing about he bleeding obvious that’s been highlighted all season I thought yesterday was another rude wake up call and reminder how this league will expose any side who don’t have enough quality and consistency in that order.

    Roll on the summer.

What amazes me is how people know what John Stones played like at that age, other than fans of whichever club he played for at the time.

This isn't a criticism as I appreciate I have way less interest in anything football that is not Hull City than the average football supporter, but I also don't feel I wouldn't have the knowledge to compare players unless I watch both players week-in-week out.

Everyone on this forum seems to know everything about every other footballer ever. I need to watch more football. It just won't be Premier League (unless we get promoted again).

It's called facts. Readily obtainable. One was playing regularly for (at the time) a very decent PL club, and England U21s and just starting out with full senior caps. The other was finding his feet in L1 and the Championship.
Greaves is a prospect for sure but let's keep it sane and real!

MOTD was my only source and like Keane now at Everton never thought he had ‘ quality’ but take your point . I can’t remember eras who played for who and when etc likeAFF my only real attention was to City and even that year by year history is blurred ! But then my memory’s going anyway

I think it's just that some people watch a lot of football outside of City and some don't. Some people are City fans and some people are football fans. I happen to be football mad, so I'll happily watch an Icelandic Premier League or Korean J-League 2 match over something on Netflix.

In terms of KLP and Greaves, both have been watched by Premier League sides and I know that Norwich have been to watch Fleming at least twice now (probably as Brandon Williams will be going back to Man U and they need a replacement Brandon.). KLP will always go for at least eight figures because he's an attacking player, but the performances of Greaves, having played at every professional level beneath the EPL will put his value up no end. Fleming I think we could comfortably ask at least £5m for, as LB is a pretty specialist position and he has looked incredibly good coming into the side. His contract status is something to think about as well.

I'm sure all of the homegrown lads will be offered new contracts, probably best to do it before all the bids start coming in as teams will want business done early this year.

To me it's simple. Take away his contribution this season and we are probably relegated.

I'm sure a lot of us would describe ourselves as Hull City fans rather than football fans , I used to watch
a lot of other football but I just don't have the time or inclination these days.

    I’m almost the exact opposite.
I’m a City fan but not particularly a football fan. I enjoy watching it as much as any other sport, but can only really get into it if there is something I actually care about riding on it.
So mainly care about City, then England, then there’d have to be another random reason for me to get interested (maybe noticing a hated team are losing and it will ruin their season if it stays that way for example)
Of course that means I have no idea about any other team’s player unless I’ve seen them play against City…so don’t look at me for scouting tips!

I'm a City fan who will occasionally go to other games as a neutral when I'm local to them (usually with a friend) i.e. Leicester (when I was at Uni there), Norwich (same) & Southampton, (when I lived in Salisbury). I have virtually no interest in International football as I think it's ****e.

This is me, exactly although when I was younger I was more the other way. Other priorities have taken away all but City for my football interests.

    Hi guys
I’m not here to gloat. I’ve read most of this thread without commenting - it’s always good to gain the opinion of the opposition.
Obviously a 5-0 defeat will hurt, but we have scored the 3rd most goals in the league this season. Our front 3 have hit fine form of late - if you look at the table you will see that our problem until recently has been CONCEDING not scoring - particularly towards the end of games - which is why we are where we are in the table.
At the end of the day what I’m saying is that yes, your boys were ‘at the beach’ to a certain extent but our goal scoring record would suggest we would certainly bag a couple - just until recently we would have conceded too whereas we seem to have ‘fixed’ that of late.
Nice touch with your fans in fancy dress mind - got noticed - top fans <cheers>
    See you next season….. <cheers>

This is exactly my thoughts on Greaves, whilst he’s decent, there is a huge amount of bias regarding how much we’re going to get for him.
All this £10 million plus bollocks is just that. He’s had one semi decent season at Championship level & people are going OTT. I don’t think we should be expecting anything more than £5 million tops, if he goes this summer.
It’s exactly the same as when Turner was here & we were saying £6 million plus, what did he go for? £2 million?
Forget the bias, forget they’re English, just realise how limited at this level, Greaves, KLP & Fleming (only included because of a £5 million comment <laugh> ) have played!
The only reason KLP is getting talked about at £15-20 million is because he really has talent & the scouts have been round to watch, the other 2 are coincidental when it comes to the scouts!

Using turner as your example is a little stupid, we all know the reason he went for that price and not his real value

And I'll say again, the scouts are very impressed with greaves and are coming to games specifically to watch him. You don't have to believe it if you don't want but it's a fact. He's a young left sided English CB who looks at ease in the championship. Out of Greaves and KLP, Its KLP who's being talked up beyond his current talent. He's very limited in certain parts of his game and his on field personality is really turning people off. A comment I've had made to me a couple of times by people who are there to watch him is " it's always someone else's fault".

When i saw yesterdays team i had to scratch my head and i re-read the team a few times in unbelief.
Honeyman and smallwood were left to run the midfield and as usual there was a huge space between them. Sayyadmanesh was in there at times, but i don't see him in midfield and i have to ask what was shota playing at. Also why is he going public in his critisism of players. I must say i am worried as to whether he is the right man for the job

Tad harsh, he tried something new with us being safe and it didn't work, he realised that and changed Things at half time.

Possibly not and it's always easy to pull things apart with the benefit of hindsight. But he realised his mistake and changed it. Plus we can hardly blame him for Baxter messing up for the first goal or the other individual mistakes yesterday.

Jury is still out as to if he's the long term solution but he definitely deserves to be given a chance to do things his way with his players next season
