OK. Today's game. I've watched alot of City this season. For me, they are the best side in the world. I'm extremely worried for today and here's why. Our press hasn't been quite what Marsch wants. The idea is to press the ball in packs of 5 or 6. The trigger is when the ball is played to the full back from the keeper. The press should be immediate and in numbers and it should look like an U8's match where everyone chases the ball. The issue against Palace was that Klich, Phillips, Rodrigo, Raphinha didn't always press the ball. They sometimes reverted to the Bielsa style of pressing man to man which made it easy for Palace to play through. This allowed them to get the ball out wide to their dangerous players and leave our full backs massively exposed. If we don't press the ball together the whole system breaks down. Now, on to City. They like to set traps. They intentionally play it short in order to allow a high press (like ours) knowing they have the ability to play through it and get the likes of Foden, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Jesus etc a free run at the defence. They are the best team in the world at doing this. Even if our press is perfect, they are good enough to beat it 9 times out of 10. It's a horrific match up for us. It's not mission impossible. We need the luckiest game this season, maybe a referee intervention for a red card or two and we might only get a couple of shots at goal which need to go in for a change. Hopefully the fixture congestion is taking its toll on them and they have one eye on Real Madrid and we catch them on their worst day of the season.

Yep. I understand. It's a long 90 minutes. I actually think you can get at City. They do take chances at the back and if you are well drilled and playing well..... Unfortunately we are still adapting to a new managers formation. We are nowhere near ready.
I get that. I'd love to see that type of football. Unfortunately we won't get close enough to kick them and if we do we really don't need any suspensions at this stage.
Don't hang your hopes on us matey. It's 3 points for City today. We are nowhere near perfecting the new managers system.
