I thought that was what we agreed, that it should be in the Virus thread?

So I was surprised as anyone that the shhite was being posted back in here, and I just got to the stage oh wtf, and couldn't be arsed with keep telling people, because then I get accused of over moderating. Damned if I do, damned if I don't.

    Really?

Shame, but can see why as it was at the height of the initial Coronavirus 'surge' and he suddenly stopped.

Same with Astro really I guess (and even maybe Stan, although that could be pushing it as I think he was chased by someone?)

I mean, how coudl Astro not return after Liverpool finally nailed a league title?

Yeah, really mate. I've had private convos that I will not divulge for obvious reasons, to strongly suspect NSIS sadly may no longer be with us.

Stan not sure, like you, I thought he got chased, but no idea tbph, because if he did, no one has informed me of that privately.

Astro is the mystery, it does seem odd he suddenly disappeared and not returned with Pool nailing a title as you say.

Posts removed, please use the virus thread for politics, and this as the war thread. Anyone who posts anymore politics on this thread, will be removed from it, you have been warned.

I chased him. I'd welcome him back, though. He was alright.

All the Russian rhetoric seems to be against the UK. I wouldn't feel comfortable living in London now, tbh.

They're trying to break the allies. UK just the target for the week. They've already picked on Poland, Germany, Finland and Sweden trying to break their support. No one is safe if the ICBMs fall down. They wouldn't launch an attack on one NATO ally without going for them all. Heck they might nuke China too just to play it safe.

I doubt it will go that far but I'm dead if they do.

Less than 10 miles from a major army base, less than 20 miles from an air force base. And I work in a State capital and live less than 15 miles from the capital.

I'm going to be caught between three Nuke targets ... Four if they decide to nuke the nuclear power plant nearby. I've got no chance if it goes nuclear.

I live less than 2 miles from the UK NATO headquarters, but at least I wouldn't end up fighting mutant humans for cockroaches to eat

    <laugh>

I do actually have potassium iodide pills in my house and have a bunch of dried beans and rice stored. Not that I'm a crazy doomsday prepper, just figured it was a cheap way to deal with the first few weeks of nuclear Armageddon on the one in a thousand chance it actually happened.

Our water comes from a well 500' underground, so our water should be fairly filtered from radiation... Shame it requires an electric pump though... <laugh>. We're planning on getting solar panels (so that if power ever went out we'd have electricity... Nothing to do with Russia, just we're in the country, and need power to get water it would suck if we lost both because of an ice storm)

Don't know if it's already been mentioned but what's this about there being no cooking oil in the shops? Apparently shelves are empty as a result of the war or something?

Cooking oil ffs? This is worse than the bog roll crisis of 2020.

Is it not because Ukraine produces a lot of Sunflower oil and production is down because of war... (Rather than some weird panic that we need to stock up on toilet paper because COVID will eat all out toilet paper, or something).

I read something interesting today. Apparently back in the late 60's and early 70's when USSR and China were squabbling, the USSR had put in a plan to completely wipe China off the face of the globe by nuking them into oblivion. (Not for territorial gains, or any concessions, they just wanted China and any future threat of a nuclear-developing China removed).

The US found out about the plan and threatened to nuke Russia in retaliation if USSR launched nuclear weapons at China..

I don't know when theories of Nuclear Winter first arose, but scary to think the world came pretty close back then to finding out first hand what happens when hundreds of Nuclear Weapons are deployed.

... And of course Israel not only considered nuclear weapons, they had already ordered the use of nuclear weapons against Egypt during their war. If the war hadn't turned in Israel's favour they had plans and orders already in place to start a nuclear war once Egyptian forces got too close.

Because people are fooking stupid, and panicked buy because of the so called shortage, when it was clearly announced there was sufficient supplies for consumers, it's only businesses that suffer, because they have to seek out more expensive alternatives.

Personally I only ever use olive oil for everything, so it don't affect me as that's the more expensive side of the market. I've got a couple of bottles I've had for ages, I normally use one and buy one spare.

I would have thought with air fryers these days, there wouldn't be such public demand, but shows what I know.

But yeah it's because of the war because the Ukraine is the biggest supplier.
