East Park was a venue in the 60s I recall seeing The Edgar Broughton band play there and a few times saw Michael Chapman with Mick Ronson play the bandstand.
I watched them on the box recently playing live on a Prime Special. I know they’re getting on a bit but it wasn’t the best. Clem Burke stood out though, he still has his mojo. Chris Stein looked like he’d been superglued to the stage & was struggling just to look alive. Debbie Harry struggled vocally, which is hard when you’re a vocalist. Sometimes it’s best to leave things where they were created.
Chris Stein has been replaced by Glen Matlock and Johnny Marr is supporting, should be a great night.
He plays bass and guitar, as does Chris Stein, who's had to skip this tour due to his heart being in a similar state to yours. And you're right about Debbie Harry's voice, she sounds poor nowadays. Johnny Marr's well worth watching though.
I’ve had a read. Glen Matlock is playing bass with Andee Blacksilver (?) replacing CS on guitar. They did have a second guitarist on the Prime special, maybe it’s him? Feel bad mentioning CS struggling to stay alive now.
Chris Stein just posted a picture of the Mick Ronson memorial in East Park, so he's here, maybe he's recovered enough to join the tour.
Was at the Blondie and Johnny Marr gig tonight. First of all Johnny Marr and his band where brilliant. Debbie Harry voice sounded great to me. Glen Matlock and Chem Burke where the best rhythm section I have seen.
When to see Liam Gallagher and The Charlatans at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday. Absolutely brilliant. There was plently of bucket hats and parka's but no trouble.
That really is quite a coup, it looks like he's only doing a handful of gigs, junior is currently sorting us tickets.
