Clive's usual rose-tinted view of Warburton. Full of contradictions too. And yes Clive, I CAN say that I don't like the bloke. And YES Clive, he has blamed others, actually, everyone else for what's happened. I agree he's done a good job in the circumstances, but, as Clive clumsily alludes too, there's definitely something going on that we don't know about.
Agreed, mate. The stats that Clive put up on how we have fallen apart and dropped in standard in the last couple of months says it all.
Clive’s report is what I am trying to say without the eloquence or botherability (I made that word up so there is hope)
So you are trying to say, using an immense amount of words, that the past 17 games have been absolutely ****, completely chronically bad to the extent that there is obviously something very seriously wrong, but we, as mere fans, can’t know what that is, so we should keep the manager who is a lovely bloke (ie very media friendly, great for journos) and would probably be the answer for Man Utd given a chance, because nobody could possibly do the job as well, let alone better. Left me confused, to be honest.
We can all agree this has been handled badly at least, can't we? Given the great work to stabilise us over the last few years this feels uncharacteristically unprofessional. It's like Uncle Tony was asked to look after the office for a couple of days. I'm going to try and ignore the new manager speculation because some of the names are nightmare fuel.
Yes, I hope we keep Barbet definitely, my player of the season the last 2. He's 1st choice left side CB in a back 3, and not bad in a back 4. And until very recently ever present. Why not keep someone like that if you can? But WLS say other Clubs have been alerted to his availability and imply he won't be offered a new contract. More madness there imo. I'd give both Moses and Albert another year if the former can get fit again before next season Moses has pace and can play back both sides. We don't have anyone else like that, nor do many other Championship Clubs. Albert if he is still up for it and fit enough too.
I entirely disagree with your dislike of Warburton and get the impression that the majority of QPR fans find him decent, honest, likeable, and have huge respect for him.
The whole thing is a marmite situation. Anyone feeling MW has done more right than wrong has rose-tinted glasses. Anyone backing their view MW has done a poor job during the last three months is forgetting all the good work to in to get the club to where we are after years of floating around the bottom of the league. Those minority who wanted MW gone are defending their, and the boards, point of view. The majority who felt he should have been given another year are left chewing their nails and wanting to say “be careful what you wish for” but not wanting to say it because we’d be in a ****ty place if true. And nobody wants that. To me it’s a mess. Clive’s made some valid points (and it’s only his perspective and views) and we can but move on. I do hope that the new guy makes a good start (and some of the names do leave you cringing). Let’s play out the last two games well and I wait with nervous trepidation to the new man in - he has some decent size shoes to fill.
I like Warburton and my vote was for him to stay, but I've come round to the view that this is the right time for a change. Not sure I agree with those saying that this has been handled badly. Presumably Warbles agreed to the announcement being made before tonight's game. It's going to be an odd atmosphere, though. I hope he gets a good send-off.
Must admit I'm the same, appreciate people might have different opinions but I really don't see the same things as Col does in Warbs. That's not to say he's perfect of course but generally comes across well to me. The reception tonight will be quite telling.
This is where I am. The hunt for a replacement over the summer's going to be interesting but worrying. However disappointed we are by how this season ended, we could do far worse than Warburton if the QPR board makes a poor decision.
I'd fully expect that a replacement is already lined up. If that isn't the case, I'd say that it has been handled badly.
The statement on the club website doesn't fill me with much hope that they've secured the man that they are after yet....
Actually I think the last 3 days have been handled clumsily but in the end OK. If this hadn't have happened, we the fans would never have been able to say good bye. Announcing last night has at least given us a chance to show him appreciation for what he has done....and it is a lot. Was it Clint Hill who was shown the door after the end of season unexpectedly...and we were all aggrieved about it. EDIT... It was Ale Faulin wasn't it...??? It would be nice to give him a good send off
The Official's statement includes a quote from Les Ferdinand that says " the search for a new Manager will now begin". I'd say if that is true it's been handled badly as well, and a lie if we have a short list alresdy, isnt too good either. After the madness of appearing to have sacked him, things aren't going to well at the top echelons of the Club now.
