i think that could actually be how many gallons of salty tears are gonna flow once the summer transfer window opens
According to reports, Bruno was promised that if we survived this season the squad would be massively strengthened in the summer with the target being qualifying for the CL as a minimum with the hope of a title push. Think that's gonna require more than £60m
Be interesting to see how that goes! I mean we'd need 7/8 top top players this summer to even consider that. FFP expenditure rules mean we can probably spend £100-150 million at a guess. A lot of sponsorship upgrades needed to get that figure up to get in those players needed! Of the current squad Trippier and Bruno are the only players who could play at that level now and help to get us there next term. Granted since Eddie has come in we have been top 4 on form but still would expect major investment to get to CL level next year. GK, 2x CB, a LB, at least 1 CM, CAM, RW and CF needed at least. Saying that - if you look at the top available free transfers... https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/statistik/endendevertraege Onana, Luiz Felipe, Ginter, Rumagnoli, Kamara, Kessie, Eriksen, Dembele, Dybala, Belotti all available on frees plus a few others who'd be decent on that list
Bruno Guimaraes' agent Alexis Malalvolta says that part of the club's ambitious plans shared with the Brazil star included a push for the Champions League places - next season.
Meh Leicester only missed out on it on the last day for the last 2 seasons. And with Man U going down the toilet, Chelsea likely to be less spend free next season, and Arsenal being a shadow of their former selves, there's definitely no guarantee of who will be between City and Liverpool. Although there's a definite top 2,the rest is more open than its been for a long while.
I'm not saying it's impossible, but look at the teams around there at the moment. They've been working at it for several years, where as we are only just getting ourselves back on our feet after over a decade of decline. It's not impossible, and I don't mean to be cynical, but to set your heart on CL football so soon would be foolish. Do we seriously think we'll beat the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Man Utd to 3/4th next season? 7/8th I think it's a good target. Europa League wouldn't be delusional.
