Everton probably went into this run of games thinking 2 wins and a draw would see them clear, but they didn't account for Burnley being a better side than people think. Burnley are used to being down there.

A combination of stuff for Everton I feel - huge overspending on players who haven't performed, constantly trying to invest to "kick on to the next level" but never getting there, and massive expectation unfilled by managers they either drain the life out of (Koeman, Benitez etc), or who just walk off and leave them for better jobs (Ancelloti, Moyes).

This season is an utter ****ing mess even for them though - starting with a dreadful decision to appoint Benitez as manager, a Liverpool hero who would obviously get a dreadful reception at Everton. Then their main goal threat in Calvert-Lewin is crocked for most of the season, leaving that diving prick Richarlison to lead the line. Then when they need new players to help them stay up they bring in Van Der Beake and Ali, 2 players who have hardly played for the last 2 years and are understandly rusty, out of touch and don't contribute anything. Then they appoint Lampard, someone who is hardly reeking of manager experience, especially not in terms of a relegation battle.

Basically they're an overpriced, overpaid, disjointed ramble managed by an arrogant inexperienced guy living off his reputation as a player who clearly can't motivate them and get them to perform.

They're a better side than people thought though. They had played harder games and upto 5 games less and were in touch.

If you remember "we're too good to go down" was Nottingham Forest's catch phrase in 92-93. What happened? They were bottom the whole season and went down.

No team is ever good to go down and the table doesn't lie. Everton have been feckin ****e this season and that's why they're in the drop zone.

I wonder if the owners will resort to Fat Sam I for the last 4 games if they're still in the zone after the weekend...

I wouldn't be surprised if Everton win 1-0 vs Chelsea. I've literally put a bet on it.

Going downhill with 4 wins out of the last 5 games, including beating Real Madrid away?!

Tuchel is savvy enough to get them focused on the football despite what is going on in the background. Everton put all their effort in vs Liverpool but still got beat, I can see that result taking the fight out of them. Chelsea have got this.
