Agree with all of that. You can see why they are too good for L1 but not good enough for the Championship. Their bully-boy tactics and lack of technical ability doesn't work in the higher league
It was no coincidence that their striker (Smith) pulled on to Doyle for every goal kick - they knew he was the weakest of our CBs and that Smith would beat him in the air every time
How **** was Bobbly Madley by the way? Thought he was far too picky and was desperate to blow his whistle at every opportunity. Stewart got wrestled toteh ground right in front of him and he ignored it
think i agree re burnout, the lad came in for experience and played best part of a season and (for us) some high profile games in front of what can be a fairly intimidating crowd, he has done really well and probably learned a hell of a lot but his time at this level as a 'regular' is done i think.
he was pretty much on par with what i expected from him, matete picking up a yellow yet took him til late in the 2nd half to book on of theirs after a few 'incidents'...one i noted was when batth and their keeper collided accidentally and he ran a good way to push batth when everyone else realised what had happened and madley never even spoke to him.
Rotherham were not silly, the big rough experienced striker (Smith?) played on him nearly all the game. Batth tried to help but he was too cute for that.
He was an absolute disgrace. O’Nien has a go at him in the tunnel on the ‘access all areas’ video from last night.
Broadhead was effectively bullied out of the game by their defenders coming at him from behind, he could not hold the ball up that was played to him. The ref dud nothing... similar for Stewart
[ I'm surprised Batth or even BW were not picking him up on all set pieces and goal kicks, as he is their no one target man and biggest goal threat .
Smith is a handful for any experienced defender never mind a kid like Doyle. Think fans are a bit quick to criticie players after one game, the same player who was being praised for his efforts against 10 man Cambridge at the weekend. He's here to learn his trade and I bet he'll remember last night longer than he will the previous game.
Definitely. My head says if we draw we will finish 6th and play MK over 2 legs which I'd prefer but I don't wanna take any chances. Just win the game and we play who we play
because of our experiences of referees in this league, do you not get the feeling that if our defenders acted the same way we would be giving penalties away every game? i know i do.
I just hope we never have to play them again this season. It pains me to say but physically we're a mismatch to them.
I would bet good money Alex Neil gave them two hell for it. Football is about teammates helping out. Easy for one of them to just pass their man onto Doyle and take Smith. Some of the criticism on this thread is daft. Very short memories. Doyle has every attribute to be a future top class defender. One rough game doesnt make you a bad one. If it did Stewart would have been binned weeks ago.
