Last time we went toe to toe, like for like, against an expensively assembled team we lost 5-1. When we adjusted and went defensive against a quality team we only lost 1-0, were the better team, had a pen disallowed and conceded from a moment of World Class ability.
I was amazed how many of them come to their away games but they all come up from London, rather than Liverpool. Journey across from Manchester was deadly quiet. Had to change onto a London-Newcastle train in York and it was packed out with them. Looked out for @Sucky but he wasn't among them. He only watches them on the telly.
Think due to our run a lot of other teams fans will think we could be the team to derail Liverpool. I think it’ll end up being an easy-ish game in the end for them, 2/3-0. Think Schar and Burn will struggle against there front 3.
It will be easier for them with a ref who loves sending Newcastle players off and a Var ref who hails from Merseyside Marriner has a habit of reducing Newcastle to 10 men- 7 in total over the years Another great choice by the Premier League top brass to keep the title race right to the end by appointing these two especially when you consider the farce of a game that Mike Dean had when reffing us at Annfield earlier this season the pattern of officials that Newcastle have had this season is, unless we are playing any of the top 6, we don't get a top 6 ref our last 3 home refs could only muster 16 games between the 3 yet Marriner on his own has reffed 17 games and Dean has managed 21 games the top 6 refs all have reffed more games than our previous 3 together
7000miles away. But I bet I have seen Liverpool play live more times than you. Currently 5 times I think.
As mad as it seems this could be the perfect time to play Liverpool and City back to back - Liverpool 3 days either side of 2 big Champions League games - they've been very lucky with their draw but Villareal will make them work exceptionally hard and City just after their second fixture vs Madrid 4 days after what looks likely (after the first game) to be a massively energy sapping game. Be interesting to see how Liverpool get on tonight an what squad they put out there.
