Pompey are now mathematically confined to another season in League One.

Joining them will be another big (for League One) club, in Derby.

So with the likes of Derby, Charlton, Ipswich, Sheff Wed, Bolton and possibly Sunderland, the competition for promotion next season is going to be tough once again.

Oñe or two of these clubs will undoubtedly be humbled by Forest Green. Add to the promotion mix Barnsley, Peterborough, Oxford and maybe MK Dóns and Wycombe, it will Indeed be tough. I would make Derby and Barnsley favourites if they can keep.their squads intact.

Over a decade outside the top two divisions.

    Massive club though obviously.

Current league position doesn't determine size. Otherwise you'd say Brentford are bigger than Nottingham forest... They're not.

I'm sure thats what Notts County fans muttered to themselves as they lost 5-1 to Torquay Utd a week ago. :)
Such entitled nonsense always looks foolish and arrogant, all fans should be aware.

"Small" men always have a complex about size anyway.

Things can change over time! Prior to.the Abramovich era, Chelsea were a big club, today they are massive! On the other hand, I would gauge that Arsenal's support has shrunk over the past ten years given their lack of success. As for Pompey, we belong to a plethora of medium sized clubs, with a potential support similar to that of Derby, Ipswich and Southampton, based on catchment área populations. However, unlike Soutjampton, that potential has never been realised, hence our status in League 1.

Never understood the obsession people have with the size of theirs and others' clubs.

I'd rather be a small club in the Premier League, than a big club in League One. Simple as that.

Apparently, it's not all about size...

Have I (deliberately) misinterpreted your post? Oops, sorry

I'd like to point out I wasn't the one who brought up club sizes. I too have little interest in it, only so far as larger clubs tend to bring more away fans leading to a better atmosphere... But yes, otherwise it does give of an air of entitlement. Some fans might be like oh we drew to little morecombe or lost to little Accrington, but ultimately 'size' doesn't matter, just what happens on the pitch and no club is entitled to win just because they happen to have a big stadium or fan base (though it generally helps). Plus, size is also relative... You can either be big in league one or small in the premier league, frankly it makes little difference to me.... As long as the match is entertaining, though probably more chance of that in league one

True. It would probably take a sustained period of success or failure to have an impact on the perceived size of a club. Though historical success is probably a big contributor, hence I'd still consider a forest a big club, despite their years of mehness. But like I said, size doesn't really matter imo

A sad state of affairs when the only thing that keeps us going is the knowledge that the mob down the road let in 4 goals again!

The only thing you lot seem to reject is promotion.

I’m not sure you understand what reject means. A player that a club desperately wants to keep but knew they can’t and whose transfer is met by a bunch of butt hurt tweets and articles is not really a reject

But I think maybe you missed the memo on blue text. That would make sense

Eh he's just Alex bass with better distribution. And being voted as fans player of the season doesn't count for much when there's not many other candidates
