Ireland are democratically electing one of their own citizens as Head of State this week.

The UK are learning that girls are now equal in the line of succession to the throne.

Now which of the two countries are behind the times?

Is it the UK because we haven't yet realised that nobody really respects the Royal family and the only reason they exist is to bolster tourism?

Have you heard some UK dialects? I would take a drunken Cork or Kerry man rabbiting all day other them.

Incendiary stuff Chico Jetset. You know folk are gonna pile in and then you'll casually walk away.

The thing you havent mentioned is the method by which this election is taking place and the referendums that took place at the same time.

The flip side from the Tans point of view is that we are electing a hobbit and on the final TV debate a "terrorist" beat the **** out of a guy from Dragons Den supported by a lass who won eurovision and a raging queen.

    Hard to say really

Both countries are ruled from Brussels but the Irish get a pretend referendum while the British get none at all

Nah the UK still have an undemocratic, unaccountable and antiquated monarchy. At least the citizens of Ireland elect their Head of State even if the candidate pool is limited.
