Catholicism kept people in shackles for over 1000 years. Reformation led to a European wide age of enlightenment and brought Christianity to the ordinary people through education and ending the elitist Latin only scriptures.

Whilst all organised religions are bad the cult of Catholicism is particularly insidious.

The reformation led to industrial slavery and poverty as you weren't a good protestant if you weren't working yourself to death for pennies from your rich lazy protestant masters

Prior to this the good old Catholics allowed 2/3rds of the year off for workers and a nap at midday

I like to keep that particular tradition going

The Catholic Church grew rich on the backs of the people. The looked at them as not worthy that is why only Priests etc were taught how to read the word of God. If a person wanted into the kingdom if heaven then the church had to have the entry fee up front. The Priests were sent around the slums each Friday, Rod in hand to demand their teneth.

Protestantism did away with that idolitrist scumbaggery. It's no coincidence that the reformed countries became successful and places like Ireland were kept in the dark ages for centuries.

Commerce was carried out in Latin and as Spanish, French and Italian are Latin languages its safe to assume more than a few priests knew the lingo

I'm glad to hear taxation ended with the reformation

It’s an experience even for those not inclined to bother god or his representatives here on earth.

    Taxation!

Is that what charging people money for eternal salvation is?
