When we were in the EU, and even after we left, lots of migrant workers came from Ukraine. I am not sure who will be picking crops here this summer with Ukrainian men fighting Russians at home. Whilst it would be the case that Ukraine would not be contributing to the EU budget, the same applies to almost all of the countries that used to be behind the Iron Curtain. What the Ukraine does have to offer the EU is massive wheat harvests – they are one of the two biggest producers on the continent. The EU fiddled the rules to allow Greece to join the Euro so this will be easy with the EU Great Unwashed supporting Ukraine unconditionally whilst Germany, France and Italy sell weapons to the Russians.
Well what comes in must go out. So unless the UK is filling up with trucks there must be the same number crossing in either direction. I think you are actually right here (something I never thought I'd write tbf) ... the slapper would have a far better grip on reality and the challenges facing the majority of the populace ... unlike the current Chancellor who is absolutely ****ing clueless in that respect and unquestionably confirms your hypothesis ....
