Stewart got in front of the defender who made absolutely no attempt to get the ball. He was the last man and prevented a goal scoring opportunity. So by the letter of the law it’s a red card.

It was a foul in the box so also definitely a penalty.

The issue is should it be a double punishment or a choice of one or the other.

Personally I think this double punishment is harsh in the majority of cases, when the defender is genuinely trying to win the ball for example. In this case he just wanted to stop a goal scoring opportunity by any means so it’s his own fault.

Nice touch when the keeper kicked it off his own player.

‘What did I do? You’re the one who let it in!’

The keepers reaction is hilarious. Looking around at the post, he looks dazed and very confused <laugh><laugh>

Just watched the highlights. A very good performance all round. I dont really think the sending off was that big of an impact as our football was at such a good level everywhere on the pitch. Embleton looked absolutely brilliant, two great feet and always in space. O9 looked very good and Gooch looked like a man on a mission. Honourable mention for Doyle too. He, along with other young lads, were superb in the first part of the season when we were flying. Great to see him back looking really confident on the ball - the lad will play for England one day. If Alex Neil fancies a back 3 again then him with Wright and Baath would be cracking as he can stride out with it and make an extra midfielder with ease.

Well done everyone, particularly the gaffer, we are starting to have the look of a side that will be difficult to halt.

Rotherham got a lot of height in their team I'd keep the back 3 or Wright, Batth and Doyle.

nah, big difference in the two really, lukaku turns his man and is basically 'in control' of the ball and just needed to keep running to at least have an attempt, i dont think stewart had control at any time and the defender just barged into the back of him...i think it was a harsh red but it all depends on how the ref saw it and, for a change, it went our way and as already said, stewart should have had a number of penalties this season, i would take one or two of the same in our last games this season ;)

Seemed a canny lad, but had to laugh when he said our ground wasn't as big as he expected. Our capacity is six times that of their home ground <laugh>

With regards the young lads (was not the over playing )- i was thinking they may have felt a sense of loyalty to LJ as he had given them the chance in the first team and were worried what the future would hold for them with a new man coming. The older pro's would have seen it time and time again so water of a ducks arse to them.

To be fair to him, on my first visit I was surprised how small a 48k seater stadium looked when actually there. It looks bigger on the telly.
