The Match Thread The BBC match thread is here and ESPN's page is here WATFORD 3 v 2 PETERBOROUGH UNITED Mark Yeates - goal 5 mÃn. 1:0 Lee Frecklington - goal 15 mÃn. 1:1 Marvin Sordell - penalty 31 mÃn 2:1 Marvin Sordell - goal 33 mÃn 3:1 Emile Sinclair – goal 39 mÃn 3:2 Jonathan Hogg – caution 66 mÃn For Saturday the Hornets welcome a to Vicarage Road the second of the promoted teams we have to encounter. Peterborough make the short voyage to Watford for the first time in two years. Watford • The Manager – Sean Dyche on the game in Hull. “The players are gutted to lose in the last 30 seconds but the spirit in the camp was plain to see, with the way they started and the way they played today. There is no problem with that. There is a belief of improvement and today for large parts of it there was another improvement on the back of Leicester. But whatever way you do it, you still have to win games.” “It’s not necessarily about being philosophical, it’s the honesty of the situation. There are positives for us but we have to do better to win matches. We thought we had corrected that in the second half at Leicester and for certainly 65 minutes of today’s game and then we just softened at the end slightly” • The Hornets Scott Loach Lee Hodson, Adrian Mariappa (c), Nyron Nosworthy, Carl Dickinson Troy Deeny for Mark Yeates - goal 5 mÃn - 83 mÃn, Jonathan Hogg - caution 66 mÃn, Prince Buaben, Craig Forsyth Ross Jenkins for Chris Iwelumo - 88 mÃn, Marvin Sordell - pen 31 mÃn og goal 33 mÃn Subs: Jonathan Bond, Troy Deeney, Ross Jenkins, David Mirfin, Joe Garner Update on the Hornet's latest statistics Peterborough United • The Manager – Darren Ferguson on the Leeds United game. “We were excellent, but to go down to 10 men gave us a problem. That was disappointing and I'm told it was a red card. It wouldn't have been a sending off if Boyd had have been on the pitch. But if he (Lee Tomlin) has done it, I can't tolerate that.” • The PoshPaul Jones Mark Little, Ryan Bennett, Gabriel Zakuani, Ryan Tunnicliffe Thomas Kennedy, Lee Frecklington - goal 15 mÃn, David Ball for Grant McCann (c) - 86 mÃn, George Boyd Paul Taylor, Emile Sinclair - goal 39 mÃn. Subs: Joe Lewis (GK), David Ball, Tommy Rowe, Josh Thompson, Daniel Kearns Update on Posh’s latest statistics Who will win? Current form Played thirteen won six drawn one and lost six, scored 29 lost 24. A record that would not usually worry the locals in Watford but they are so poor this season it is scary reading. The only good point is Peterborough let in many goals, more than Watford! Still with two wins in all matches the Hornets need to hide themselves in shame or get another win quickly. Akureyri's Prediction: 1:0 I will repeat what I wrote for Crystal Palace - the law of average says Watford must win again soon and Saturday will be that day. But only just this time. skál/skÃ¥l/cheers/salut Don't forget Drop in to The Hornet’s Nest for some match chat. I am late today as Frú Ak had my laptop computer and I ahve writen this from a blank paper. Also apologies for the photograph of Darren Ferguson from a former employer, I could not find quickly and easily a 200 square pixels picture of him. I go for another now.
another great match thread Ak ...thank you. I am listening to my heart on this one and think we will win 3-1...though in reality, i think there maybe more goals, and we might win 4-3
Will the kids for a quid bogey strike again? I've got a horrible feeling it might. I'm not going to predict a score but unfortunately I'm not too confident of a win.
Great thread AK. I am hoping we can get some pride back from last season and avenge the defeat. I have said 1-0.
I always consider myself an optimist, but I must admit I am starting to struggle... But lucks got to change soon surely... so 2-1 to Watford
Looking forward to my trip to Watford always an enjoyable day out good fans good banter, who can forget two seasons ago "how **** must you be we're winning away" Be good to get some decent banter after last Saturday and them mindless morons from Leeds As for the game not an easy call Watford what I've seen have been a bit unlucky so far this season underlined by their odd goal defeat at Hull last week No Tomlin gives Taylor a chance which could be a good thing for Posh, rumour also has it Tunniclife will get a start (about time) I expect Fergie to stick with Sinclair although I'd rather see Ball in Result not sure could it be our first 0-0 since Ipswich 2 seasons ago, surely not lol Whatever the result an enjoyable day will be had with a proper family club with good fans
Great as usual AL 5 *'s from me...sorry, but I am having to go for a 1-2 defeat for Watford.....and I am not even sure where that goal is going to come from!
and my Posh friend will be there with his son...i can't bare the bragging rights if they win! He hasn't stopped yet from two seasons ago!
If we dont win this i will actually break down and cry!! I will never survive the ripping i will get from mates up here.
I thought we only managed one at Hull. Didn't they score half our goals. Sorry to say it but I expect the Horns to lose on sat and that will make a full house of losses for October. When did we last have a full house of losses. Hope we win but my confidence is waning. Bring the youth in cos later on the pitches will be too heavy, we need more experienced players, the price if fish is too high, any excuse not to play them.
What do you reckon on the team given the latest loan signings and Doyley's injury? I'm not going to try to guess the line-up, but if he does anything like the idiotic stunt at Southampton, and moves Mapps to RB to fit in Nosworthy, you can sign me up to the Dyche out campaign.
Thommo can play RB Lee Hodson can play RB , but they are both still kids so Sean wont play them! yep I can see what your predicting happening Harrow!
I have to say I would love to see a Posh win & a clean sheet .... cant remember when we had one of them! Hi to all my Horny friends
