The simple answer though Steve is that when team do well, win things, trophies derbies etc its the manager that receives a lot of plaudits therefore transversely, when it all goes tits up he has to burden that failure alone as well.

If as you seem to allure to, none of the failures were down to the manger a) why have a manager in the first place, as he just seems like an expensive title in your arguments? b) You cannot then attribute any successes to him either can you?

Bruce has been both unlucky ( those injuries, Bent ****ing off as he did and Gyan being a complete twat) but also he has been the architect of his own problems too (we never got to the bottom of why all those injuries occurred, poor planning about Bent knowing he wanted to leave 5 months before he did and then bottling the Gyan thing and letting him go when it was impossible to get a replacement in) etc.

Also, he has dithered tactically during games and has a negative air about him which I think gets to the players in the bigger games. Just my observations. As for the derby games and conceding that its always been thus so shall it always be

All in all his 2.5 years have been littered with both the good, the bad and the downright ugly but there hasn’t been enough good to tip the balance in his favour imo. He needs to have much more good and much less of the others to win me over fully. A start was the admission he ****ed up with his formations thus far and another one would be to leave well alone for tomorrow (apart from Bardo in at L Back for me).

We shall see what transpires over the coming weeks because one thing I do admit too now, is the fact Bruce isn’t going anywhere this season barring huge disasters, so it’s like to or lump it time and I will never lump SAFC despite saying I was packing in during the late 1990's. Lol

I'm stuck as a die hard for life now.

    syd? lol

anyway I am not saying Bruce is blameless for everything, even SAF makes **** ups, but his good is better than his ****ups, but he still does them occasionally.

Bruce has made mistakes, but on here he seems to get blamed for everything under the sun, I just dont think he is at fault for a lot of it, did Quinn/Short get rid of Bent/Gyan from under his nose, no idea, we will probably find out in 15 years time when Bruce/Quinn/Bent write their autobiographies, until then its just guesswork without any proven facts, if they did though, he should have kicked up a hell of a fuss, maybe he did, but again the club are keeping stum about it, its what Americans do, they like to keep things in house and not let anything out, you very rarely hear the Glaziers or Randy Learner saying why **** happened at Man U or AV, its just the world we live in im afraid, problem then is, all the rumour and specualtion starts.

tactics are a matter of interpretation for me, for all intense and purposes they were ****e as we didnt win, but if we had....

The Derby, I thought we played quite well in the first half, colbeck got 2 crosses in, no strikers anywhere near and we had Gyan playing, Gyan scraped the crossbar just before half time, Mig was in the wrong position for the free kick, R taylor exploited it, they didnt really trouble us much apart from that.

lets just hope for all our sakes we win tomorrow, battle against Man U and then get positive results in our next 6 games or so, and keep moving up the table/get further way from that dreaded relegation zone.

I agree about going on a run and Man Utd apart, the next 6 games are games we have to target if we are to improve our situation. With 18 points up for grabs it could see us all smiling or equally worried, as we will have played some 15 games by then and have a tricky December imo.

I would rather look the fool with Bruce the hero, as it would mean Sunderland AFC are doing well, so heres hoping I look the damn fool then by Christmas. Lol

going match again, Dansafcman has made the same points I would have done and I agree with a lot of what Blackcatsteve has said too.

Cest and followers we will have to agree to disagree.

I wish the above was possible for us, possibly whats happened with Modric at Spurs will lead the way, I guess we will wait and see.

I predict that Sunderland will start poorly, and be two down within half an hour. They'll then proceed to dominate the next hour, hitting the woodwork and spurning several chances. You will score a penalty after around 75 minutes, only to lose 2-1.

    Ooh, who upset you! <laugh>

You're a very angry young man, Cestria. You always seem to be 'effing and blinding' about something on this board. Is it bird trouble? Talk to your uncle Erik, I can help.

I never thought you were the sort to mock my Homosexual Syndrome. <cry>

Williamson is actually a decent player.

Perch however is the worst player in the league.

In his short time in charge, we have good home wins against Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool, Villa and Man City. We've beaten Villa and Chelsea away and had good draws at Man United, Villa, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool. Hardly the signs of a ****e manager.
And before you say it, yes, we have had some **** results.....but hasn't every team?

Do you not think Gyan was not bought as replacement for Bent ?

Just before Bent was sold there were people on here saying he should be dropped, such was his form and the fact the Gyan/Wellbeck partnership looked so promising
