Just looking him up, he’s rumoured to have asked for a transfer

If you work from the 20 players we have right now plus Gehardt, Greenwood, Summerville, Cresswell, Hjelde…….

it stands to reason that you cant have an 18+4 policy and keep the same squad. It also means you cannot keep those 23s named plus Drameh. Those 23s are too good and have outgrown the U23s and need football. Marsch has a tough job before him to move some players out, select some 23s to promote then either sell or loan out some others.

Maybe Marsch needs to do a full evaluation of everyone like Bielsa did. Split them all into groups and then cull them. Poveda, Costa, Bogutsz etc

I think he will have to do a full evaluation of entire squad. Target has to be mid table this season minimum. As you say many of the 23,s have outgrown the squad but if he feels they’ll only be up to playing bit parts in what will hopefully be a mid table team then tough decisions may be needed

I can see some strange decisions too but guess the fans will have to suck it up and say, well we have to give him a chance as its his team…
wonder how some will react to say Tyler Roberts being retained and say Costa taking up a first team birth…. As you say some hard decisions for him

If we stay up then one incoming player for sure will be Aaronson, who’ll become one of the AM’s/wingers. Poveda and Costa won’t be coming back. Maybe Bogusz will - talented player - but not sure where he’d fit in Marsch’s 4-2-2-2 system.

Aaronson can play on the wing or central where Rodrigo has been playing. Bogusz also fits this role well as does Gelhardt.

I'm sure he can...also pretty sure he'll be playing CL football next season.

    Aaronson that is of course.

loving your optimism Jamster but i think even if we win our last 6, it's no longer mathematically possible:emoticon-0100-smile

Why do so many go on about Bogusz, he’s only playing Spanish 2nd division football. We’re complaining about Rodrigo, a full Spain international player, but think a bloke who’s played at a far lower level is the answer?

…. he has the full weight of the doc marketing machine behind him

to be fair he did look a promising youngster, but then so do many. It would be a surprise to me if he came back into the fold… but hey, one for Jesse to evaluate. I’m sure there’s a clean slate for all.

Who is saying he is the answer?

Marsch will look at all options available to him. A bit like Bielsa did with Klich.

The conversation was about where Aaronson might play if he came. He gives us an option in an advanced central midfield role. We are light in that area with only Rodrigo, Roberts, Gelhardt, Greenwood and Bogusz on the books that could possibly fill that role. Only Rodrigo has filled that role with any success thus far.

Okay. I’m just doubtful that Bogusz will be anywhere near the first team squad next season and to be honest my concern is that our desire for the U23s to be world beaters outstrips the reality. It’s a massive step up, which is why so few make it.

Klich is on record as declaring Bogusz to be a better player than himself (Klich was at his best at the time!).

I was thinking along the same as this myself earlier today. When you think of Chelsea loaning out Gallagher

This link is very interesting when you look at the values out on loan, our out on loan value is virtually entirely made up of Costa being valued at £7m https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/leihspieleruebersicht/wettbewerb/GB1

He said bogusz is probably going to be a better player than him… not was and not already! Bigging up a talented kid and fellow pole.

shame bogusz did his acl as it may be difficult for him to get a fair crack of the whip in the summer and at 20, he’s at the age where you’d hope to be seeing him make the step up if he’s going to.
