The player who had performed worst in training each week - known fittingly 'Plonker of the Week' - was forced to drive the yellow Reliant Robin as an incentive to perform better in training. In a question and answer session for Four Four Two magazine, Woodgate was asked what possessed him to buy the three-wheeler. He revealed: "On Fridays after training we’d give a yellow bib to the worst trainer but we put our minds to doing something different when I had a brainwave. I was in Joe Rigatoni’s restaurant in Middlesbrough and I noticed a yellow Robin Reliant. I asked the owner if I could buy it. He wanted £1,500 but accepted £1,300. please log in to view this image "I turned up to the training ground and the lads laughed their heads off. Ian Harte ended up driving it after me. We wanted to sign it and sell it for charity but it was vandalised so that didn’t happen." In an article run by the BBC at the time, the Chairman at the time Peter Risdale is quoted as saying: "I thought it was Trotters Independent Trainers turning up!" please log in to view this image "But it demonstrates the fantastic team spirit that we have here." Woodgate joined Leeds United's academy in 1997, going on to make 104 appearances for the club before signing for Newcastle in 2003.
Tonights game is a strange one and hoping that Southampton are not on the beach as they are safe already. Im sure the manager has been told by the board that a win tonight takes them up to 9th and if they finish the season there, they would win an extra £8m from the position they are in now. Smash the useless Lancashire twats and send them down
I'm with doc whether he likes it or not. I forgot this game was being played tonight. It's good though as it will spur the lads on if Burnley win or lose. Win and Leeds must try harder. Burnley lose and again go for it.
Southampton have won 9 matches and scored 12 goals more than Burnley. Burnley have only won 4 games all season, so for me they go down and the strange decision to sack ginger seems a hailmary pass. I hope Im right
I'm hoping Ayling,Cooper,Dallas will run their contracts out. all are still handy to have around the club as decent squad players. but I would be telling them a starting place is not a gimmie anymore. then give them the option to run out their contract as squad players or leave if they want to continue playing regular Football which would probably be at a lower level. Just because of what they have done for the club. Even at their ages we would get a fee to be honest they have paid back their transfer fee already as all were peanut buys. Rodrigo will probably have to do the same as I can't see us getting any decent money back on what we paid for him. I can't see us selling him at a cut price would make no sense. Still has ability but he needs to start showing it and be more consistent. Firpo,Forshaw,Klich should all leave for the benefit of the club as they are either past it or not good enough. Llorente,Koch let's face it, we haven't seen the best of them as they always injured was this down to Bielsa's training? or have they got the Darren Anderton's. I wouldn't be to fussed at losing either or both but again the transfer fee could be a problem. Bamford I can't see him leaving unless someone put's in a stupid money transfer offer. He's happy and can still do a shift in the Premier League but we can't go another season like this one. As on the young lads mentioned above Gelhardt, Summerville, Hjelde, Cresswell and Greenwood. they are gagging for first team football now and none will want to sit on the bench for another season unless they are guaranteed game time. Personally I'd keep Gelhardt in the first team and send the rest out on loan rather than sell them or let them go. let's see where they really are. give them their wings by playing wed,Sat in the Championship on a full season or half season loan. the potential is there but they need to learn their trade and there's no better place than the championship it's a decent level.
Burnley are shyte I think they are the worst team in this league they have absolutely no chance of winning 3-4 games in there last 7 no matter who they play. it's took them 31 games to win 4 they are going down there I said it lol.
Yep 3 points for Burnley tonight as this game is right up their street. Gonna be some egg on faces and proper panic stations amongst some on here when it all tightens up at the bottom...ooh err mrs, or as the actress said to the Bishop.
Win is there for Burnley, current form suggests a close one; https://thefishy.co.uk/formtable.php?table=1
