    The EFL are reviewing a £115m takeover bid for Sheffield United from Henry Mauriss. Mauriss is an American businessman who made his money in the credit card and finance industry. He lodged a £350m bid for Newcastle in 2020. [athletic]

    They got almost the same crowd for a women's game last month as well. 50k tickets are given to members to try and get more fellas to women's games, the other 41.5k are sold, it's still impressive.

    She obviously means matches like the recent Champions League game between Barcelona and Real Madrid which drew 91,533 to the Nou Camp. A fabulous, landmark occasion.

    Yet Barcelona made tickets available for free with just a small administration fee to its 147,000 members. They are still the best supported women’s team in Spain, but average attendances are nearer 2,500.

    If you had limitless capacity and made it free to everyone, there is no way Hull City’s mens team would get a 91,000 crowd for a match. Attracting a gate of that scale in any circumstances is a remarkable achievement.

    Oldham Athletic's League Two match against Salford City was abandoned after supporters invaded the Boundary Park pitch to protest against their owners with the club just minutes away from exiting the Football League.

    Relegation would also mean the Latics would be the first former Premier League club to drop out of the top four divisions. The game was stopped on 78 minutes with Oldham 2-1 down as the protest started.

    Play was stopped 25 minutes before the referee called off the match. The EFL is yet to comment on the abandonment but should the scoreline stand, or indeed Salford be handed the win, it would confirm Oldham’s relegation.
