I find myself preferring Netflix as much down to how easy it is to navigate and find something to watch.

Their app is so much better than the others. Prime especially has free stuff included with subscription but also stuff you can rent or buy along with other subscription services you can join. Its alright once you get used to it but can be annoying at first.

Old comedies: tv series like New Statesman, Brass, etc, plus the old silents like Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, Buster Keaton (don’t think any of the streamers do these though). Can’t get away with some 0f the old 50s attempts at comedy, such as Ian Carmichel/ Terry Thomas etc. Bootsy and Snudge. I watched all Jeanette Scott’s movies though (Thora Herd’s daughter). She always gave me a hard-on. (Hard-on: something I know I used to get, but can’t quite remember what it was).

Agree 100%. Netflix have nailed it in terms of ease of use and their recommendations are spot on. Every new true crime one that comes on is right in my face when I log on, and I get emails to say it is coming. Started the John Wayne Gacy one that landed yesterday straight away (mind he is some piece of work).

Prime I always just go to the free for me section and scroll through there. Some quality programmes. My family go mad because they use Alexa search and often get stuff they have to pay for popping up.

You will struggle with the streaming services to find any of what you want if I'm honest. Which is what I thought first reading your post, if you are up for trying something new give it a go otherwise probably not worth it.

Have you looked on youtube mate. I have seen some Laurel and Hardy stuff on there - no idea if the quality is any good or if it is legal or not but people seem to put all sorts on that for some reason! Must admit I dont really understand youtube but my lads sends me all sorts of old stuff to watch on it (old footy)

My wife only watches for 5 minutes if she can’t understand what they are saying it’s off.

I did the same with that American Sniper. He mumbled all the way through that and it was off after about 15 minutes.

I could probably get away with it now as I say I put subtitles on as I find most shows there will be a word or two that you will never make out.

We like the short 10-15 minutes features looking back in time at certain places, Brighton Pier, The industrial canals are just a couple they do loads, both informative and nostalgic.

Just a thought mate, has any of your family got access to these services and could 'lend' you a log on to try them out yourself for a short time period.

That would kill Netflix. I can see them doing a cheaper version with ads and a premium price without. In the news they are losing millioms apparently as people cancel. Also saying they might try and go after people sharing passwords around, whereas up to now they have let that go.

The day they introduce adverts is the day that I cancel our subscription, especially if it's adverts during a show/movie rather than before or after. I'd also be quite put out if any of them crack down on the account sharing. We've got both the kids away at uni on post-grad courses, so we all share accounts. We pay for Netflix and Amazon Prime, my daughter pays for Hulu, and my son pays for Disney and Apple, and we all watch a bit of all of them (except I don't watch Hulu, as it's complete ****e, but the wife does).

To be honest mate, There's a great mix of all sorts. Discovery plus has some great stuff on it. Disney plus isn't just for kids, there's all sorts on there, docs, film and series. Front runner for me is Netflix, endless choice but isn't loaded with Docs though. There's and argument for any of them really. Amazon TV is decent aswell. This probably isn't helpful like. lol. I've got the lot and jump between them.

FIFA on about bringing out a streaming service. Anyone fancy having to pay a subscription to watch the World Cup much? @Ozzymac is it true that the EPL sports package over there is cheap as chips or is Simon Jordan talking ****e?

I reckon in family sharing will be fine. My lads both use my accounts for prime and netflix. It is more where mates share accounts I reckon. They used to say they didnt mind the sharing because they reckoned ultimately enough people decided it was worth getting their own. Now though they are losing people who cant afford it anymore (which may be where the ad options comes in) and they will have lost loads pulling out of Russia. Shareholders will be worries about their investments...
