Matt Law has claimed we're edging closer to Johnstone on a free. Really good bit of business if we can get that done early as it should in theory be the easiest deal on paper of all the free agents we have and will be linked with over the next few months. Law also claims Conte is a big fan of Kalvin Phillips. So am I. Would love him at Spurs and I think he would excel under Conte. If Winks, Lo Celso and Tanguy all leave that raises enough guineas to bring Phillips in.
I really can't understand why Phillips is reportedly available for £60m, which is less than half of the fee being bandied about for Declan Rice ...why do you keep elbowing me in the ribs while telling me to shut up?
Rice is 3 years younger and almost certainly has a higher ceiling than Phillips, but no way is he worth £120m. Nor is Phillips worth £60m for that matter, even after the statutory I Once Played for Ingerland VAT.
19 caps presumably adds an extra £15m to the asking price One more cap and it's £20m That's how it works, right? £10m per 10 caps?
Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is set for talks with chairman Daniel Levy to tell him the club need six summer signings, with Leicester's Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans, 24, high on the list. (Telegraph - subscription) I can see why this player is what Conte needs
I thought we didn't want players in the squad who seem like they drop their game when their club is not at the business end of the PL, in top-flight UEFA land etc. As well as being a likely squad player at Spurs vs shoo-in at Lesta.
good point maybe he’s just having a Harry Kane episode and his levels have dropped but going forward with an eye for goal…he’s better than anything we have in midfield atm.
He is PL proven (so not in dispute) . The issues for me are that : 1. he potentially comes into the existing squad, but also with Bale + Eriksen 2. Conte is not renowned for squad rotation lest there is an injury plague, or wastrels like NDombele. I would love to get a CM squad equivalent/commitment as when Walker/Rose were being rotated with Trippier/Davies, but from a player with no history at the club, not so sure.
As mentioned Johnstone should be a quick easy deal and Eriksen and Bale hopefully too. Hopefully we can persuade Romagnoli to reject his boyhood club Lazio to join Contes revolution. 4 players signed for free then Gollini, Winks, Lucas / Bergwijn and Tanganga / Rodon / Sanchez out of the door and with the sales of Lo Celso and Hopefully N'Dombele that is a nice little kitty Paratici will have as a starting point to bring in a RWB, CM and another forward. If Reguilon departs then another LWB.
I’d take him all day long. Wanted him (and Grealish) before we signed Ndombele and Lo Celso. He’d also put that final nail in Winks’ coffin and my 4/5 year nightmare can end… byyyyye.
The fact we're looking at Championship CBs like Ronnie Edwards and Jacob Greaves surely means that Rodon's going to be leaving in the summer, as it looks like we're futureproofing both our back line and our HG quota
Suddenly hoping that Paratici isn't still trying to get into Mendes' good books by signing a winger from his roster...
Romano’s said we’re “really interested” in bringing back Eriksen, as are Leicester - who let’s face it would stand no chance if we battled it out for him - but no talks from either side have started yet (nor can they I believe, not official ones anyway). Hojbjerg has also teased it a bit too by saying his name “will be hot in the club” when speaking to a Danish outlet. Eriksen and Bale (again!) back… stuff of dreams, especially seeing them in the same team too! Edit: And a couple hours later; Sean Walsh claims we’re confident of re-signing the Dane but that it’ll be dependent on Conte and possibly CL.
Journalist Transfer Wishlist Watch Miguel Delaney of the Independent has stated that our summer business will be A List Filip Kostic (LW/LWB, Eintracht Frankfurt) Gleison Bremer (CB, Torino) Stephane Singo (RB/RWB, Torino) Christian Eriksen (never heard of him) Punt List Gareth Bale (RW, absolutely nobody come 1st July) Lautaro Martinez (CF, Inter)
Got their 3rd, too: I've made the Bowen comparison before, but I'll make it again anyway! Already arguing with the officials like a Premier League player...
