A Utd fan called 5 Live as he was travelling for the game last night. They asked him if he thought Utd could get a result. His reply "I feel like I am on the way to put the family dog down"
So after our fans supported Ronaldo with clapping and singing in the 7th minute, Utd fans then do this.
Had more sense that me, he was gone after 5 mins... I waited another hour Nah in all seriousness he's a fraud. I don't doubt he's been poison in that dressing room for a long time.
There's a lot of talk, on forums and in the media, about Utd needing a complete "5yr" rebuild- do you think that's true? I think there are plenty of good players there, but the attitude stinks from some -Pogba is the obvious example- and that is demoralising the whole group. I think a bit of judicious weeding out is what's needed. No doubt the club's policy will be to throw more money at it to attract star players, it's been that way for a long time, but it's more about who you get rid of than who you buy, imo.
Re that last part, I don't necessarily think so. I posted this on the PL board... The problems at United go way beyond the manager and the players. Lack of modernisation in terms of not having a DOF, and a Chief Exec who was all about the marketing at the expense of the football itself. This is a widely known. Reading the posts on here I think a few ppl (MITO especially but I cba responding to it) aren't really aware of what's been going on behind the scenes in terms of the infrastructure and heirarchy if they think we're going out to spend £80m+ on big names to build another manufactured team of individuals. There's been significant changes at the top - with Arnold coming in as the new Chief Exec and recruiting our first DOF in Murtough, with Rangnick going into his new role, along with the recruitment of Ten Hag as manager, all suggests there's a definite shift coming in terms of the way we go about actually building a football team, and the club... after the debacle of the past ten years. From everything I've read (and heard from the tea lady itk at Carrington) they're pretty much re-modelling the recruitment policy along with the infrastructure and style of football from the youth team to the first team and the way they're coached. It's very much the case that the style and identity of our football was being agreed first, the manager brought in to deliver it (looks like Ten Hag) and all 4 will work together in recruiting players to suit. Whilst an interim manager wasn't ideal, I think putting in the right people at the top and defo setting up a DOF, BEFORE bringing in the manager was the right way to go. The new guy then comes in fitting into a long term plan. Personally, I think the only areas we may be forced to spend big in, is a CM (ideally box to box like Rice), a CB and a CF. I really don't believe we need wholesale changes. There are also some real gems in the U23's. Garnacho is quality. Hannibal is also quality. The one who doesn't get mentioned much is Zidane Iqbal - that kid can hold possession, good passing accuracy and can control a midfield imo.
It'll be interesting to see if real modernisation takes place and is effective. It was a greater awareness of how football was changing at the beginning of the PL era that gave you an edge over us, one it took an awful long time to catch up with. I'd like to say I wish you well, but you'd know I don't mean it.
well yeh One thing I didn't reply to was getting rid of players. There are plenty leaving who are past their sell-buy date. Mata, Matic, Martial, Cavani, Jones, Pogba, Lingard, Greenwood and I'd dare say Lindelof and Bailly as well. That's 10 players, get them all off the wage book and it'll be a massive plus. We can bring back Tuanzebe from Napoli and Brandon Williams from Norwich as well. Then there's Amad Diallo whose loan to Rangers was a complete waste of time. Fck knows what'll happen with Van De Beek - I think he could still have a future under Ten Hag.
I don't want Rashford out. His form may be **** and has been following his injuries/surgery but there's something else going on with him regarding his confidence at the moment. I think he genuinely still wants to be at the club and wants to do well. He's a different character to Pogba and Lingard imo and still has a lot of credit left in the bank, for me. I don't buy into the idea being in commercials or his off-field work is his priority or in any way impacting on his form. But there is something going on with him mentally or physically or both which is affecting him and I believe it's all to do with what's going on inside the club, with his own confidence, and I dare say what's going on in that dressing room. I think he deserves a chance under the new manager. We'll have a much better idea of whether he has a future at the club under Ten Hag, who's been known to get the best out of players who have previously lost form. If he can't do it in a season under him then fair enough. If we can get another season out of Ronaldo, I'd be happy with that. He's scored 21 goals this season, at his age. There's nowt wrong with that. In two minds about DDG. He's saved us SO many times. Probably the equivalent of a 20+ goals a season striker in terms of points won because of him tbh. His flaws are two fold though - he stays on his line far too much which invites pressure and his distribution is ****e. Probably not enough to be a priority in terms of replacing him. We have far more pressing concerns.
If it true (ie was the vid defo last night) It’s interesting that it was completely ignored by all press disgusting behaviour But we all have fans like that I would ban the lot of them
Sorry I meant a big deal wasn’t made but in fairness Utd have condemned it and rightly so Just sad on a night like last night
