€60m is just under £50m I just can't see them selling two of the best young talents in Europe for that buddy. We will see. I would love Bremer as I've mentioned but as you say LCB is a far more pressing need and as you say Romagnoli would be a great signing on a free. Think Singo would be a quality signing. INS - Johnstone Romagnoli Singo Tieleman's McNeil Eriksen Martinez Sarr and Gil back from loans OUTS - Gollini ( loan return) One of Rodon, Tanganga or Sanchez to go Emerson Reguilon Winks Lucas ( but think more likely Bergwijn) That would be quite achievable. Those signings would add more flexibility to our squad and give Conte the chance to play 3-4-3 or 3-5-2
Bremer only has two years left on his deal, Singo only has one but apparently Torino have option for an extra year. So Torino aren’t in the biggest of bargaining positions and I’m pretty sure a lot of Serie A clubs are in need of cash so it’s something we may look to exploit. I think individually I’d pay €45m for Bremer and €20m for Singo. Not sure I think they’re worth stretching much more for, although if Conte outright wants them the club needs to get them whatever the price. I’m not sold on McNeil, I think he’s a decent player but nothing more than that. Johnstone, Romagnoli, Eriksen and Bale on frees would be great business. Spend on a striker and RWB, plus a LWB (Kostic) if Reguilon returns to Madrid and that’s a top window for the club. It’s a fair bit to do but also not impossible. Outs I’d agree with, I think there could be scope to sell both Bergwijn and Lucas if Conte puts faith in Gil and Paratici brings in Bale. There’d be no need for the other two and cashing in on them would get us solid funds.
I want more vision than that. A coach should have the ability to drill a squad, be it 4-4-2, 4-5-1 (old hands : remember 1986-87) , or Vardy-ball. A manager should have the nous to realise the "no plan survives first contact with the enemy" adage, and call up any formation change in the confident knowledge that his team will immediately do it. < pragma over dogma >
Apparently we’re big on Djed Spence too, Paratici has watched him personally. Looks to be a quality young player. I’d almost prefer him to an import, though it’s a step up for him.
Yeah Spence looks great and I’d have no issues going for him. Lamptey would be my preferred RWB signing but there’s a number I’d be happy with, there’s a lot of decent quality in that role we could get. LWB will be much harder should Reguilon return to Madrid, scarce amount of good LWBs about in my opinion.
I’m a bit worried about Lampety’s injury record now tbh. Feels like he hasn’t been starting a lot of games recently but that might be a false impression. I don’t watch Brighton much. Pedro Porro another name coming up. Out on loan at Sporting CP from Citeh. 22 years old and capped for Spain already. He’s not a big lad though, so possibly tricky for him in the PL, and City have included low buy options in his loans that have never been taken up, so that might be a sign. Spence is the one I’d be happiest with tbh.
I'm in two minds about Reg as I think he's perfect for the role going forward but defensively he is suspect and needs quite a bit of babysitting by Davies. His injury record is also getting a tad annoying, especially taking into account the fact that Sess is never available to cover. I really like what I've seen of Tyrick Mitchell at Palace. Plays in a back 4 but I think he has the attributes to be converted into a LWB. Same length contract as Lamprey and iirc he recently got his first England call up so would be damn expensive.
A squad with the "right stuff" in mentality will be sufficiently motivated to ensure that at worst, his or Dohertys' first game next season is a CL tie ...
Really is brilliant news. ****ing love Skippy. Looking forward to seeing him have a run alongside Bentancur, whether it be this season or the beginning of next, could be a very solid duo, both of whom can also play it forward.
I like Reguilon, think he’s a decent LWB that just needs to get back fully fit. I don’t think he’s as bad defensively as some say either, he can occasionally be rash in decisions but he’s not often easily ghosted past. I really hope Madrid look elsewhere but I fear they won’t. I think Mitchell looks very good too but I don’t think he’d suit Conte’s system as a LWB, I think he’s more in the Ben Davies LB mould.
Vieira seems to be encouraging him to get forward more - something that has clearly helped Palace become a much more dangerous side overall. Truth be told I've only seen him play three times this season - in their wins against us, City and Arsenal and he was excellent on all three occasions. Against City especially he kept Foden and Walker quiet all game. 22 years old and has been an ever present for them this year. Huge future ahead of him no question. Although a neutral would probably tell him to stay put for another year and continue developing under Vieira. Could easily make the same mistake as Wan Bissaka and move too big too soon.
I’m the same as you. If he stays then great but if he leaves I don’t think it’s a massive loss at all as there is others out there just as good
The thing that annoys me about Reggi is the amount of times he arrives to a cross at the back post only to meet it flat on his arse , prime example was Saturday, the cross was begging for a tap in
I think the clause is something like €40m, which is ridiculous really. I like Reggie but he hasn’t really kicked on since his early promising games with us and if we signed him for that sum today, I’d question it a bit. Good player but starting to think at 25 he may never go up a level. Conte seems to really like Sess though so unless Reggie leaves I doubt we’ll buy at LWB.
Ideally he stays and improves under Conte like others have. This summer will be busy enough (hopefully) without needing another LWB but getting a profit on him wouldn’t be bad business especially when Ndombele and Lo Celso will probably be sold at big losses
