Good Morning. It's Wednesday 20th April, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Barkley linked to Summer move to ER Leeds have been named as a possible destination for Ross Barkley this Summer. The 28yo former England International has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, and recent reports indicate he is available on the cheap. He joined Chelsea from Everton back in 2018 for 15m, but has only made 57 senior appearances for them during this time. The Blues currently have 22 players out on loan, though Barkley's weekly salary of £110,000 was a major contributing factor why Aston Villa chose not to renew his loan this season. Even if Barkley is interested in a move to Elland Road this Summer, his salary demands (even if slashed by 50%) seem a lot more important to him, than his passion to play at the highest level. please log in to view this image Caprile flourishing in Italy Shot-stopper Elia Caprile is flourishing with Serie C outfit Pro Patria this season. The 20yo joined the Milan based outfit on loan, ahead of their 21-22 campaign. Over his 37 appearances, he has become one of their stand-out players. Caprile was signed for a nominal fee from Chievo Verona in the Summer of 2020, and was instrumental in helping the U23's win the Premier League 2 title last season. He signed a new contract at Elland Road before departing to Italy, but Leeds are now considering extending the deal beyond 2024 due to the attention he is getting in Italy. please log in to view this image I was out of my comfort zone every day - Nketiah Former loanee Eddie Nkehiah is the latest in a long line of former players to have become embroiled in Marsch-Gate! Speaking on the 'Beautiful Game Podcast', the 22yo Gooner was asked about Jesse Marsch's claims that the Leeds squad was overtrained during Bielsa's tenure. Whilst Nkehiah stopped short of agreeing with Marsch's claim, he did point out that the gruelling schedule left him knackered and out of his comfort zone. He also concluded that whilst the training got the best out of the players (including himself), 'over time you do get a lot of injuries.' "It’s difficult to say it’s wrong, because I felt like he was getting the best out of the players he had, even myself,” “But I’m not going to lie, it was hard. I remember sometimes I like to go out to eat, but I was going home to sleep! I was knackered from training and it was the first time I felt like I was being put out of my comfort zone every day. “I felt like I needed to rest to be ready. It was good. But over time you do get a lot of injuries, because it’s difficult to sustain that but from a development point of view it’s good." please log in to view this image
Morning all We get linked with Barkley and Kent every transfer window, I’d be surprised if we spent big money on any 28/29 year old unwanted by their club Nketiah lightening pace but nothing much else, I guess we’ll be linked to him again as well although he’d be better than James or Roberts up front when Bamfords injured
Morning all Agree with Ristac on the lump from Chelsea and Fast Eddie will either go abroad or stay in London probably with Palace
"... I felt like he was getting the best out of the players he had, even myself,” ... if such a thing were possible Eddie
On the loanee situation here are the facts. successes: Poveda (but got injured) Drameh Davies but always injured Bogutsz until injured Caprile Fails: Costa got 3/10 in his last match Kiko not picked for months The rest of them
Big match for the 23s on Friday at ER, where a record crowd is expected maybe even 20,000. We play top of the league Man City and we are battling relegation and need points badly. We may play Cresswell as Marsch has plenty of CB cover in the first team, ut not expecting to see Gelhardt, Greenwood Summerville. Also photos doing the rounds of Lewis Bate training with Phillips in the first team? Of course we could see some first teamers getting some minutes with the 23s if not played much recently, may even see Firpo do 45mins to see if he can make it for Monday?
Don't see anything in the Barklay story, another who seems to have lost his appetite for the game. Perhaps bring in Caprille back as number 2 now and send Klaesson out next season, to get him some regular game time
Certainly wouldn't be going after Barkley again but we'll soon be linked to every Tom, Dick and Harry again no doubt.
First time i ever saw poveda campo play i thought he's a lightweight with no end product. Never could see why we brought him in. I actually think he is worse than Roberts.
Poveda was on fire at the start of the season but got injured. Davies has got rave reviews from everyone at Bournemouth but unfortunately for him they have one of their own youngsters who have had the season of their life at left back. Nketiah would probably have played 25 games for us this season and I reckon he would have scored more than the others combined. He is a goal poacher and to be honest, thats exactly what we need at this club (not necessarily him).
