I go along with this, he packed midfield playing three at the back, I think it worked up to a point, but Stewart and Broadhead were under par to-day, still think it was a decent enough draw though , and in a game we could easily have won, bring on Cambridge United .
Not a classic by any means. A lack of quality from both sides in the final third, quite frustrating watching us second half as we were definitely on the front foot but the end product was crap. Probably a good point given their home record, only if we go on and win on Saturday though!
Today, I witnessed a team in 4th and at home kicking the ball away whenever we were awarded a free kick etc. They were there for the taking today (especially midway through the 2nd half). How the hell did Clarke manage to stay on the pitch, he was horrendous. Still another point and we move on!!!
Not a brilliant performance but a well earned point. A very important point given the fixtures to come for both us and the others. Saturday is a huge game against a team that will be relaxed and have nowt to play for, ask Wigan. 3 points for us and a couple of decent results elsewhere and fingers crossed we could be nearly there. It’s going to be tense but it’s Sunderland and we don’t do things easy. Keep the faith lads and lasses.
Think it was a game both teams dare not lose. At times it was like one of those world cup group games where both teams qualify with a draw. They are 2 points ahead but the onus was on Plymouth to take the game to us but our defence was rarely troubled. Shame we were equally poor going forward.
I agree he drops too deep but he does look ****ed these last few games. I'd rest him Saturday and go again against Rotherham. Anything happening with Speakman upstairs?
They shook hands on a draw before KO I reckon. Your are right, it was a dead rubber and both will be happy with a point Edit: not a dead rubber meaning nowt to play for but both will be content with a point
Absolutely. That's why I'm a bit surprised we didn't go for it a bit more but hey ho. Roll on Cambridge
there's a few said it already but this is going to the wire, a win today would have really put the cat amongst the spuggies like but there will be a LOT of nerves over these next few games, if nowt else it is almost always an exciting end to the season with safc.
Disappointed but overall not a terrible result. I have to say I do not like this formation that as Clarke/Gooch/whoever as wingbacks. I'd much prefer we went back to a back 4
It's working but not working at the same time for me, which is bizzare . I don't like it and would like him to change it, but results would suggest it's doing well. I thought Cirkin was good today. It's a crazy game that we all love.
The Evans role has become essential. We play an "attacking 3" (RB-CB-LB) rather than the traditional method of 3 CBS. Winchester and Cirkin push on as they would in a back 4, which means Evans has to drop in alongside Wright at various times. We missed that badly on Sat. It makes my mouth fill up with sick when I say this, but Evans is as crucial to our system as Pritchard is
I totally agree mate, if we play 3 at the back then is should be 3 CBs not a central midielder, centre back and a left back as the 3 . Your observation of Evans dropping back is also correct, he is deeper than Wright at times collecting the ball from Pattto. Evans as a number 4 and Pritchard as a 10 is ok by me.
He's coming deep but he does have Broadhead right up there lately. Also, it's fair to say , to many of the crosses he does get recently are from too deep and after a cut back or other delay I was always told that the best cross to put in is when the defenders are running back towards their in keeper. They're the hardest to get in and I'm not sure we get enough like that in now. And Stewart MUST be feeling the physical strain compared to players who have played many games less. Let's hope he nicks one in and it gets him going for this last bit of the season.
Agree, and thats where the wingers come in to play. Clarke should cross a few first time just to mix it up. Him and Roberts are totally different to what he has had all season tbf.
