War is a nasty business and no country ever comes out of it smelling of roses whether their the aggressor or not.
Can’t agree with them doing that, but it has now been done, therefore it will always be done whenever there’s a war. If they have the tech then contact ordinary Russians and show them what Putin is actually doing.
Looks like Boris is going to have to change his summer vacation. Barred from entering Russia. Darn it!
These Russians are really thick - saying Boris can’t visit. Surely Boris “ no rules were broken at the parties that didn’t happen and I didn’t know I was at” Johnson would be ideal help for them with their statements such as “ we will punish Ukraine for sinking our ship , the one that wasn’t hit my missiles , just had a fire breakout which caused it to perish”
I'm in the 'play stupid games, win stupid prizes' camp on this mind. Plus, if you want to make change in Russia, you get the mothers of Russian soldiers on your side. They're as near to bulletproof as it's possible to be and if they start working themselves Putin's days are numbered. If they dared to arrest one the government wouldn't last to the end of the day.
Russian preparations for the next Invictus Games are going extremely well. They will do owt to win gold them ****ers
The fate of this Ship is yet another example of the vulnrability of Warships. Go back to the start of World War 2 when the 'stringbag' Fairy Swordfish, a Biplane, each carrying one Torpedo, already obsolete by then, flying from a carrier destroyed the Italian Fleet at Taranto. This example was not lost on Japan who went on to plan the attack on Pearl Harbour. Meanwhile the Fairy's had damaged Bismark in the Atlantic, sufficiently to enable the British Fleet to catch up and sink her. Japan later sank the Battleship HMS Prince of Wales using Bombers. So the Battleship was no more. Then came the advent of Missiles. We were relatively lucky in The Falklands, but it was a close run thing it seems. And now we have the Russian Flagship, Pride of the Fleet, sent to the bottom by a missile, (alledgedly), fired by w much weaker Nation in terms of both numbers and equipement. There is a lesson here for Mr Putin, should he contemplate attacks on Finland AND Sweden. The important tool now, at least as far as Sea Power is concerned, is the Anti-Missile, Missile. This is what willl, (Might?) protect your ships. Given how much our two latest Aircraft Carriers have cost I hope it's a lesson we have already learned. And if we return to the title of this thread, WW3 How Close? Then my answer is further away, because Tanks appear to be of limited value as do Ships. So if any Country is going to start WW3, and hope to win, it needs have a range of missiles AND Nuclear Warheads, AND be prepared to use them AND be prepared to have these used against themselves as well.
Pretty sure I read that some of the radar only had a 180 degree field of vision so they distracted it with a drone so the radar didn't pick up the 2 missiles. That and complacency from the crew (not on watch, not thinking the missiles used were operational etc) has been suggested as to how the Ukraines managed to blow it up
