I was surprised to see Nile Ranger was back on the bench on Wednesday, and he was also in a picture on the club's official website training with the first team. Mark Douglas has hinted on Twitter that there will be news on Ranger in tomorrow's Journal. The signs point towards a possible return to the first team frame, and I have a feeling this could be the result of Shola's injury.

Would people be glad to see him back in and around the squad?

And also, what seemingly turned everybody against him? Was it the off-the-field issues during the summer, or his poor performances when given a chance towards the end of last season?

Personally, I think he has bags of potential but I wish he would drop his gangster attitude. I wouldn't mind seeing him return to being an impact sub but only if his attitude matched that of the rest of the players.

Personally, I think he needs to change his attitude, if not, then he will leave just like Barton.

No player is bigger than the Club/

Pardew has said he is out the first team picture till he grows up. Perhaps Nile is growing up? Bags of potential and if he is growing up he can fulfil it.

Nile is an immature idiot. Perhaps being out of first team action altogether caused him to sulk and act like a moron even more, so Pardew benched him for a game to remind him of what his goal is.

You summed it up for me:

"Personally, I think he has bags of potential but I wish he would drop his gangster attitude. I wouldn't mind seeing him return to being an impact sub but only if his attitude matched that of the rest of the players."

I hate seeing people waste thier potential.

If he knuckles down, learns and tries to relax a bit more when in front of the goal and he will score and then he'll become more confident.

The kid has the ability to be a really good player. He just lacks the tenacity to do it at present.

Would love him to turn it round and finally start being professional. He has an immense amount of talent as a striker to lead the line because of his exceptional hold up play. I've been proved wrong before by Barton so I won't go off the deep end but I can't see him turning it around based on recent history. Here's hoping though.

This. Loads of potential, but unfortunately he seems intent on acting like a tit.

He might end up being a gangley gangster Emile Heskey or a good striker, depends on his attitude really.

He has the chance most lads dream of and is ruining it with his attitude. I can see this being his very last chance before his contract will be terminated.

He has had enough chances. If I was manager there would be no way back. Gets paid £15k a week on a 5 year deal. Pardew has shown a lot of faith in him and he has thrown it back in his face time and time again. He can get out of our club the twat

The last few months have shown just how much better a team can be when it isn't dealing with one or two inflated egos. He's not worth the risk to the team spirit/work ethic IMO.

He's had enough chances both on and off the pitch if I'm honest... reckon we might be trying to give him an opportunity to put himself in the shop window.

Was it Kevin Nolan that offered to stay back after training to help him with his finishing and he refused every day?

He has acted like a complete a total twat.

On the other hand, so have I, but I mainly got over it.

If he realises what he is so close to having and is also so close to throwing away, fine. He's been an idiot. He' improved. Welcome aboard.

If his attitude is still the same, though, then I don't care how much attitude he has - - he'll never realise it

If he comes back and gives 100%, scores a few goals then I will have a different opinion

But, I would be pissed off if he got on the bench and Sammy didn't
