I thought at 2-0 they were good. Until we started making silly sloppy mistakes. Then the nerves appeared both on and off the field. That’s when our crowd turned. Silly cross field passes going out of play 3 yards from your own goal line (more than once), the offside goal and clear chance after that. All from silly mistakes. That quietened the crowd. Then obvious the conceded goals. If I was a Shrewsbury fan, I’d be disappointed their team simply stopped pushing at 2-2 and tried to play for a draw. We were there for the taking. Another goal and we’d likely have capitulated. Luckily they stopped playing and tried to settle for a point. We started passing the ball again and got what, imo, we deserved. Nothing lucky about it. Last minute goals are no more lucky than 1st, 20th or 57th minute goals. It’s just a goal at the end of the day.
This - exactly what I said to my dad after the game. We were on the ropes and definitely there for the taking. Heads had dropped and Shrewsbury were winning every little scrap, second balls weren’t even been competed by us. Strange from them to settle for a point () IMO.
I was sat at a similar angle just higher up and I thought it was an og but looked like the keeper had almost caught it and threw it in.
Having slept on yesterdays performance and result I have decided the following. Mixed bag of a performance from the team, but couldn't give a ****e as the 3 points is all that matters. Now onto Plymouth and another 3 points please
I like how Neil handled his interview afterwards, it’s a clear warning to the players not to take the foot of the gas or else ! Be interesting to see who he “rests” on Monday.
3 last minute goals in the last 3 games really doesnt fill me with confidence at all going into the playoffs. We are the most random team ever. We're world beaters for half a game and League 2 level the other half.
In my head a side that plays to the end of games & gets last min wins is often a side that goes up, call it that bit luck, maybe were a fitter now & capable of chasing pressing to win games rather than settling for a draw. reminds me of promotion under keane & we won lost late. Yes were inconsistent, maybe thats a little L1 trademark, Rotherham were as good as up just a couple of weeks ago, mess on with that daft up....like we did & now in bother. think lot of consideration needs to be given to how many young lads we have. KTF marra....ive got a good feeling & the most positive ive felt since we were in L1
I still don't like the way we set up at the back with the 3 of Cirkin, Wright and Winchester but it's working
I agree mate, were a different beast to few months ago, call it carrying luck or whatever, fitter, later winners. Time to roll the dice, yes we will drop out top 6, but Rotherham are all over the shop, still need to come here, Sheff Wed win could rattle MK for that second spot, win all our games & maybe just maybe were in with an outside chance. Really really starting to beleive here, didnt realise how much until i realise Alex Neil is the first manager since we came oit the prem than i listen to his press conferences....as hes the only one whos said how it is & not talked ****e, i like him, seems a good fit for is right now. KTF, if its not automatic then were hopefully in the playoffs & I canmot remember bar 1990 us entering the playoffs on form, other than being disappointed at not going up automatic which we cant be this time due to how long of a shot it is. 1990 we blew our load in the semi-finals. Lets look at this from other side of coin, we may prefer to not play whichever team in the playoffs.....NO ONE would choose us right now....just hope im right & we get out this horrific division
We're now playing well in every game ... ... not for the whole game but usually enough to get a result. Contrast that with the likes of Plymouth and Rotherham who have whole games when they're poor and look like they'll never score again. Plymouth didn't have a worthwhile goal attempt yesterday and look demoralised. Neil has adopted Johnson's team and has done very well. As we showed at Wigan we can control a game, from start to finish, but young lads can have periods when they're not in the game. Even Stewart struggles and he should be full of confidence. Yes, I'm afraid nothing is certain and results can depend on which Sunderland shows up ... ... But we'll finish in the play-offs then anything is possible. I honestly believe teams start to panic towards the end of games because they know we have it in us to keep going and win the games. I believe.
It gives me confidence though, it shows we don’t give up like we did with LJ. We’ll go up this season or next with AN in charge.
Last minute goals to save a match after being 2 up against a team like Shrewsbury has the opposite effect to me mate. I even had to google how to spell their name there. Time will tell but i hope your right
Gooch has been poor for weeks..He barely had a cross that wasn't cut out yesterday and the one he should just have shifted /moved on , he stops, tries to control it and then loses the ball, gives away a stupid free kick then waves his arms about.. Just play and do the simple stuff Goochy..
Gooch is a mediocre League 1 player at best. He's been part of many bad seasons now, its time to let him move on
That's 2 games my dad has been to that have had last minute winners, told him he's leaving after 35 minutes next Saturday
