Our FA Cup record isn’t great considering our success in other comps with “just” 7 wins the last being in 2006 with City having 6 wins the last being in 2019 . It is difficult to tell how we will approach this with CL and league games sandwiching it and to JK they are the real priorities however he also clearly wants , as we all do , to beat City . Bottle job ref I see. Heres hoping the chances go in and they don't have a field day against our high line. Alisson Trent konate vvd robertson Henderson fabinho thaigo Salah jota mane Diaz, keita, firmino as the main sub options. I can't see matip playing another in the week and its hard to see who else in midfield options I'd allow near city.
Big pitch suits them more than us. Going to have to really work hard and be the aggressor if we want a second final.
wembley is no bigger than their stolen commonwealth games bowl. offically their stolen ground is 116 x 77 yards the Wembley white elephant is 115 x 74 yards. It is #stadnard pitch side for europe. Anfield is just under sized for euro comps. 110x74 yards So in actual fact here you've and extra 5 yards running space or 2.5 yards per half. Its hardly a killer. It is one of the great imponderables of our expansion plans what we did not simply account for this increase in pitch size in the phase 1 and 2 designs and add the yards to the pitch but then again fsg #cheapaschips
yes but every single away game in europe and indeed a lot in the prem we play is on a bigger pitch. Wembley pitch size is a sort of myth really. yes the old place was a little wider (not longer) and had the track so it seems much bigger. Today's wembley actually conforms to uefa specs so is nothing special or different If you actually look more closely a sizable amount of pitches in the prem a sizable amount of clubs conform to the eufa specs so Wembley being big is a big of a myth. eg. Burnley, Brentford, brighton, watford, villa, city, man utd, Newcastle, leeds, west ham, spurs. they are all 68m wide. the different is 105m v 101m. so its 2metres a half thats longer ad of course if the offside trap actually works then its moot. Yes having 2m more to knock it about in over anfield in their own half makes pressing a bit harder but its about passing lanes and angles as much as space.
worst case scenario now. 2nd in league Lose to city in SF and see them win the FA cup v palace. Lose to City in CL final winners of league cup. best case scenario is obvious but is there a deal with the devil anyone would take? for exmaple would you throw the fa cup to win the league? would you take the CL knowing city would win the league and FA cup etc etc?
i think this is a bit premature. I think pep might be running some mind games cos he is worried about us. They are report as to be assessed so far as is foden. Its all mind games imo.
Id let city have the CL if we won’t the prem and fa cup. A domestic treble would be a cracking season.
I know a lot of people value PL more but for me it's: Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, Europa Cup, League Cup, World Club Cup, European Super Cup, Charity Shield Champions League is the big one.
