It's a valid question. Radz has been widely criticised for getting rid of Bielsa. The club organised the interview on talkSPORT. Radz may have had a chat about what to bring up during the interview?
I believe that everybody is entitled to their own opinion and it sounds like Ted is fairly open and honest in his views. It is the press who have turned this into him having a go at Bielsa. For me Marcelo Bielsa deserves all the respect he has received for what he did achieve with the club. I was very sad to see him go but it is futile trying to speculate on how we would have done in the games since he left. At that time we had acquired a losing mentality and to break that would have been extremely difficult. The change of manager has naturally brought about a change in attitude and I really hope it is sufficient to see us through the last few games and keep us up. Personally I do think he could tone down his verbals but i suppose that is the American in him.
Couldn't agree more. Bielsa is very likeable, and he really cared, so when the rug was pulled from under him, fans wanted blood. Things were bad, and when he said he wasn't going to change anything, that was the straw that broke the camels back.
I don't buy into the "Marsch lays in to Bielsa!" headlines. When he moved from man to man to zonal marking Marsch also said 'that should help us become harder to break down'. Is that "laying into" Bielsa too? He's just stating things he has changed and his reasons behind changing them. It's just the media trying to spark a reaction. So stop it.
I really like Marsh, and the subtle changes he has made have made life easier for the players. None of it is rocket science, a few tweaks from Bielsa, and he'd still be at ER now, but he reused to budge an inch. I just feel that Marsch went 'off script' in some of the reply's he gave.He didn't actually answer the question(s) that were asked, and to me, that's a bit naughty. For example: (Q) How near are you to have a full squad to pick from? (A) The injury issues had a lot to do with the training methodologies, the players were over-trained. That led them to being physically, mentally, psychologically and emotionally in a difficult place to recover from week-to-week and game-to-game. I have a very specific methodology in the way I work and I've had a reputation for having high running data in the way we play, but also having healthy, fit and strong players so we can meet the demands we want.
As per my comments on yesterday’s thread on this. He was absolutely sticking the boot in. And I believe it was premeditated. There are a number of possible reasons why, but media/pr strategy of explaining why bielsa had to go (timed after suitable grieving period, and run of positive results) is definitely one of them. As is motivating the players by absolving them of blame for past performances and telling them and the world that they’re good enough if fresh and fit. You could say, time to stop being deferential to the past coach and focus on whatever matters most to effect the here and now.
All I can say is if those comments are sticking the boot in some on here have had a very easy and sheltered upbringing.
Afternoon all… 1) Marsch was wrong, he shouldn’t have said what he did 2) Bielsas time was up, he was responsible for his own downfall I agree with Shaks and others who state “a little respect”. Forget the fast flowing attractive football, forget how he made us all enjoy watching the team again, forget how he made us feel like we were going to win every game, forget about winning us promotion. As if all of that wasn’t enough it was the humbleness of the guy. The man you saw walking down the street with a carrier bag, who you spotted in the supermarket, who never took a holiday as Leeds United came first. The man who stopped to coach an U11 local team, who got the players picking litter, who gave us three years of pure praise, of making us proud after some of the previous clowns. The main who got the minor details sorted like car parking closer for the players, training pitch and main pitch the same, the guy who did as much behind the scenes but didn’t feel the need to tell us all how great he was Bielsa never once slagged off a player, a rival coach, a referee, he kept his thoughts respectfully to himself. He also turned around an inherited squad of average players in a 6 week preseason with his “methods”. If Marsch is half as good we’ll be in for a flying start next season
Makes no difference what a few Bielsa haters say, I can deffo say that I have never once watched a manager sacked where some fans are crying, where some of his players are crying and where the man himself was crying. Some have no respect for probably the most honourable man any of us will ever see. You got a team of League1 Liam’s battering every team put in front of them. A team who won the league by 10 points playing a brand of football that nobody in this country had ever seen. Every football fan loved watching Leeds and every pundit loved talking about us. From obscurity and ignominy in the Championship to everyones fav team. We blew the Premier League away and scared the shyt out of Klopp and Pep. Bielsa even told his team to allow the opposition to score a free goal which again nobody has ever seen before. Bielsa is a flawed genius and his flaws caught up with him as a small squad and loads of injuries plus refusing to sign players we needed. I dont know if we were right or wrong to sack him, but for the glee some fans show I think is a joke for Marsch to say what he said was premeditated and for what reason. PRt of me now wants him to fail, bit I am dying to find out what Rob Price thinks because Bielsa swore by Prices methods. Is Pricey leaving because if it was me I would walk
Bit strong to say "haters".....everyone knows what he did for the club and the football we played, and we all could see he was a principled man in everything he did, but it's not a principled business and even more so today with the Megabucks involved, I doubt many people would have wanted it to end like it did and for the man to leave in a more dignified way, but it has been done and a new man is at the helm and whatever his ways or p.r. speak I'm hopeful that he retains our place in the league that we've strived for so many years to get back to.....bielsa won't be forgotten that's a given
