Sorry JGF I didn’t realise your neighbours made the laws, or lied to parliament, you should have told me before.
This whole thing is a mess, tonight ITV spent the first 17 minutes on Boris and his nip.. about a minute or so with Rishi... ! then about 5 -6 mins about UKraine dilema. Most about 2/3rds was re presented old footage with a couple new ones of some ,of the families that had relatives die in hospital or care homes. Our family was no different in having someone taken away from us whilst in hospital, and waiting a month for a funeral where only a couple were allowed to attend. We have chatted about it, rules etc, and actually from what has been shown, and classed as a party is pretty shambolic, if thats how to party then any we had been to in the past 60 years or so must have been OTT monsterous things. We all agree calling them "parties" is stretching it. Most were gatherings! majority from what has been published to date were pretty much amongst between people working together. Bristol office blocks were pretty scarcely occupied. Family [ 3 ] had to go in,[ 1 -3 days +WFH] and drinks and sarnies were at least once in the week. Son in law works for first bus 5 - 6 days they were not spaced out 2m apart or ate on their own! I am sure many others can muster up similar scenario's ????? Should Boris resign ? at the moment the world has a much bigger problem, an idiot that threatens civilization as we know it ... ARGENTINA WILL BE NEXT! this time send 30,000 troops 20 warships and 100 tanks 200 field guns etc to Port Stanley ...
This comment makes no sense, no where does it say neighbours make laws or have actually lied.. no one has been asked as far as I know
Firstly let me say I have no political leaning and have voted for all 3 party's in my time My view is that we have a PM who thinks that lying is acceptable - the country deserves better - and he should go
You were comparing your neighbours braking the rules with Boris and Rishi, I pointed out that you’re neighbours neither made the rules nor lied about braking the rules. it was your comparison which didn’t make sense.
I do have a political leaning, but to me that’s irrelevant, I agree completely with you and I’d feel exactly the same whichever Party the PM belonged to, this is WAY beyond Party politics.
Boris is a habitual career liar and has been found out yet again. Whether he was there for 9 mins, 9 hours or 9 days is irrelevant. He and others involved could face up to 12 or more further charges and fines for breaking the Governments own rules at other gatherings. It's painful for all the people who were denied seeing dying relatives during lockdown, attending funerals, losing their livelihoods etc and for all of the long term damage this may still do to young people's mental health who were locked up with abusive parents etc. Aside from that, Boris should have sacked Cummings when he drove to Durham, who himself has also been shown to be a liar, and Boris should then have stuck to his own rules the same as the rest of us, especially as he'd had Covid ffs ! But we still have the same issue. Who would replace Johnson if he resigns ? Sunak has also been shown to be uncaring and flouted the rules too and has possibly lost his chance of ever being PM. Labour will shout for a General Election but that won't happen either. But in the May elections, and further downstream, the Tories will find to their cost that people probably won't forget what's happened and results will show it. Johnson is proving a decent world leader in his responses to the Russia/Ukraine conflict, when the rest of Europe are shying away from standing up to Putin (of course!), but the damage has already been done. And as for bringing in further Lockdowns if necessary, people won't get fooled again, and I'd like to see the Government try it.
Who replaced Boris is irrelevant, he should go. Jeremy Hunt is probably a good shout. Boris is hoping we’ll forget about it by the time of the next election, I hope not, he’s an habitual liar and not fit to be PM.
the comparison is that people all over the country were doing the same .... not just the select group centering around number 10 ..... Starmer himself had drinks on a by election in the cramped local office .... he stated it was work ... put up a constant attack which makes sense of " best way to defend is attack!.... " where I live it is semi detached so the drives are in the space between the houses .. there were more than 1 group doing similar ..... stones and green houses
go back 3 or 4 /5 years and the "joke was want to tell lies" then go into politics ....only since the issues with Corbyn/brexit/ has there been a real jimmy opposite approach ... It goes to show in these troubled times just how few politicians are in parliament are fit to rule in the future.. especially opposition ones. Starmer an ex solicitor has a mindset of gaining advantage over the opposite [ be it prosecuting/ defence or political party in charge ]. An opportunist in points scoring ... thats what solicitors do out score the opposition --- he says things like we should [because it attracts voters ] spend billions on doing this that and the other.. and that is now after a few £trn getting us through Covid!!... where is his secret money tree, the world besides us in the UK would love to know. This is the biggest debt we have ever had under a tory .gov In a way you can say this countries finances are like that of bristol city fc over the past 3 seasons.................... after years of austerity getting rid of the LABOUR black hole of debt of £trn's via loans etc we managed to make a profit .. along came covid cost a few £bn in first financial year [ covid was qtr of it ] then full year cost £trn, now going into war ravaged economy [ thats this season equivalent ] Whether Boris stands down or stays ??????????? At the moment we should all be rallying around our .gov and fending off the threats of this part of our future. We have to eat bread and water so be it, majority of peeps using foodbanks do so because its free.. Said it before a woman close by runs a £40,000 suv uses local foodbanks does not work has 3 kids, a neighbour invited to kids birthday party said they had a 60" TV parents offered salmon sandwich's and prosecco.
This clearly is wrong in our country the working class paying for the non working class. Those that don't work want it put on a plate free of charge.
would love to know how much the met police have spent on this in this investigation, yet report a burglary they plead cutbacks give you a report number and say go away.
They wouldn’t have needed to spend any time on it whatsoever if Boris hadn’t made the law in the first place. Gym owners, hairdressers and publicans who are struggling to make a living are being fined up to £10k for breaking Boris’s covid rules. Why not overpaid lying two-faced politicians?
OR a pedestrian runs across the road, vehicle doing 28 mph [ dashcam ] approaching. woman aged 68 carrying 4 bags of shopping trips on curb falls over not hurt but shaken. Bystander called police. Womans daughter who was with her and the bus driver from whom's bus they gotten off of all stated no hit by car and woman was at fault... witnesses on bus all gave later statements confirming woman across road in front of car without looking! 3 police cars in total turned up 2 eventually left another police car arrived as did a paramedic then ambulance driver breath tested. Police car that turned up last coned off road 1 side and took measurements driver interviewed for 40 minutes. almost 2.5 hours after event scene was left clear and driver allowed to go on way 1 month later recieved a letter from police stating event was being investigated and may lead to lead to a prosecution. 3 months later a letter arrived stating no case to answer. 6 emergency vehicles ... [ plus 1 a week after that came to house to confirm interview at scene ] probably about 7-8 police involved +office staff . Reality is had the person not phoned the police.. with blatantly wrong information ... stated a vehicle speeding down the road at 50 or more miles ph had hit an old lady crossing the road then allwould have been fine. vehicle was stopped at end of skid mark front wheel pointing into and touching kerb .. 1 metre further on smashed glass of pickles had come through bag 1.5m past that was another broken jars glass + liquid. Pointed out by at least 4 people including driver as point where she fell ... amazing really ..... oh I was the driver... over 3million miles under my belt and no accidents that were attributed to my cause! at the time ... what a waste of police time ...........
If it's just the one fine I think Boris and Sunak will survive. If they get notice of further fines as time passes then they've both had it. I agree with Ashton and R&W that they should resign now. What worries me is Boris is the only leader of the Tories who could possibly win the next General Election. Without him we get Starmer and co. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.
