Hard to believe this - the UK Minister for Energy appears to know very little about the 'loan' that every householder in the UK has had forced upon them.

Where do they find these people? ‘Under rocks’ might be a simple answer, or maybe ‘a pond’, but genuinely, is this really the best human resource this country can provide for his role? Really??

Not this country but quite probably this government. Look at their track record of miserable ministerial appointments:

    Chris Grayling
    Priti Patel
    Liz Truss
    Michael Gove
    Gavin Williamson
    Ben Wallace
    Matt Hancock
    Dominic Raab

    etc etc...

What a can of worms has been opened by Sunak's wife - Javid owns up to having held nom-dom status too.

Johnson and Sunak both fined for breaking lock down rules. I wonder what the defence will be.

There is no defence, so I'm wondering what the consequences will be. I'm not sure about Sunak but Johnson has lied about this to parliament on more than one occasion, which surely constitutes breaking the Ministerial Code?

I also wonder what this guy will make of it - the police officer fined £600 for having a kick around with his autistic son during lockdown, but ended up paying £10k for having the temerity to appeal the fine in court.

It’s the final paragraph I find most interesting:

During the 2019 election campaign, as chancellor, he boasted the Tories had introduced more than 100 measures to “tackle aggressive tax avoidance and evasion” in order to make the tax system “simpler — and, most importantly, fairer”.

Sorry. This is turning into ‘Nothing to do with Coronavirus’. Anyway…

Ironically, you couldn’t get any more ‘on the money’ than this:

"I humbly apologise, but at that time it did not occur to me this might have been a breach of the rules."

There have been weeks since then when he could have admitted that he didn't understand what he had imposed on the country. But no, he has misled, or lied, to the MPs and refused until today to accept his wrong doing. To see Tories suggesting that he only did what teachers and nurses were doing, is deeply insulting as they went way beyond the call of duty.
So what happens if Sunak decides that he has had enough and hands in his resignation? Where does that leave Johnson.

As for Dross saying that this is not the time to change leaders. Might I remind him that here in France the election of the leader continues.

It may also be timely to remind him that the UK changed PM twice during WWII - and none of those three had lied.

You mean the sitting Prime Minister sitting on Sue Gray as she does it?
Which explains why she hasn't been seen for a while.

I'd hate to be in the shoes of any Tory canvasser who knocks on our door - it's fair to say that my wife is livid over this attempt to say that teachers, and nurses, are to blame for encouraging Johnson to drink at work. Neither teachers nor nurses are even allowed alcohol on the premises.

My daughter has lost two weeks of holiday this year as she gave of her time freely to cover for other members at her clinic that were off sick. Covid was the main reason for absence, but a couple of staff were off for weeks with stress related conditions. Then on the days she was in the operating theatre the team were trying to fit in additional patients to attack the backlog by working longer hours.
For someone like Fabricant to make his comments is more than offensive to those who are basically burnt out. How people like him ever get elected is beyond reason, but look at the way cabinet ministers are ignoring democracy to protect the lying PM and you can see how rotten the system has become.
