Weird that when I was playing the jackpot was £3 which went up to £10 and yet when you lost more than that, I still chucked money in knowing even if I won jackpot it would never cover the loss. My friend recently had a pub and when visiting him, he laughed at someone chucking money into one. He said remember when you used to chuck money into them all the time. Well those 2 machines make more money to me than some of the drinks.
I do the ITV7 every week it's free and you can win £50,000 at weekends. I've never won come close a few times, it's a bit like supporting City. Close to winning but not quite good enough
I think they pay out something like 10- 15% of takings, remaining 85% go to the pub/ club they are in. I got hooked in a snooker club, put in £3 , won £100, took a couple of years to kick the habit, didn’t loose too much, but some people you hear lose houses and all sorts.
What about those poor horses that died-horrific never been a fan of asking animals to jump over obstacles with a human perched on there backs.
I love horses and animals in general and I absolutely agree its awful when 4 lovely healthy animals die so we can have a bit of betting fun (or in some cases win/lose some serious money) I also don't like the use of the whip. I do however, reconcile myself (to a point) with the fact that those horses LOVE to run and jump. You can tell that by the fact that the unseated ones (when they are able to) jump back up and carry on with the race with the rest of the group. I used to be a bit of an equestrian myself in a former life with a former lady (before Mrs R&W) and those horses LOVE to go out riding - they don't mind you being on their back any more than a dog minds being on the lead. In fact, when you get the lead out, a dog gets excited because it knows it's going out. It was the same with the horses - when we approached the field with all the tack they'd come running over to greet us because they knew they were going out for a 'hack'. Like I said; I reconcile myself to a point
Don’t they carry on because the like to herd in the wild and do what the others do? I don’t know, after getting kicked off a motorbike by a horse I’ve not had any interest or trust in horses. And before anyone says was I going to fast or too close , I doubt I would be here today if it caught me at speed. And I was overtaking on the other side of the road. It just spun around its rear and booted me catching my thigh and yes it hurt.
Yep something in common rod anything to do with Animals I'M a big softy We of course are passionate Bristol City FC supporters as well
just a quick heads up ... many years ago I spent occassional Sundays at Ogbourne Maisey, Bill Marshalls stable, had the priveledge to meet a few times Lester Piggot! reason for my visits a horse called Raffingora and another called Saratoga Skiddy. At that time use of a whip was frowned on but often used. LP said you wack a horse and it initially it is resentful / loses concentration and might lose a couple of length's he made me a fortune [Raffingora ] and often at anti post in a couple races as they declared an apprentice at the 4 day stage and Piggot rode on the day! EG 5/1 AP 3/1 - 7/2 on the day rarely fav as he carried top weight, sometimes almost a stone more than next in weights.. never was whipped. However the rules on whipping changed sometime later and a jockey could be fined or banned for leaving a mark on a horse after the finish line .. mainly used as a visual threat or to keep the horse straight nowadays! ONE FOR YOU! ... HE WAS A GREY... used to sit in the betting shop having put a whole weeks wages on him around 1969/70 and peeps there were going mad cheering their horse a couple lengths clear as they hit the furlong pole... 10 secs later I stood up from stool and YEA WELL DONE MY BOY...out quite loud! HE was a 5f specialist.. BEVERLY and EPSOM most wins I think .....
