Radz has increased the bonus for not getting relegated from £35m to £48m it really gripes me, imagine that £48m being spent on a new player. Why should the likes of Firpo or Roberts receive anything or even Bamford who hasn’t played? I guess it’s the normal thing to do now but it feels wrong. Did the players go out against Watford on Saturday thinking of the shared bonus, was this the incentive to win, was that a greater incentive than wanting to remain and play in the PL again next season?
Much of what has been said is true. Marsch has had easier fixtures, injuries have helped, a slice of luck has helped, we haven't played great free-flowing football. However. What he did do was change what he could change to maximum effect quickly. Narrower formation, zonal press, good bye to man-marking. The effects of that are tangible. Getting the players to play great football in the formation will require time and very likely a better class of player... but he had the common sense to make maximum impact in shortest possible time. What has changed (and again the opponents likely flatter these stats) is our xg 'against' is well down under marsch, our 'xg for' is well up. It may not be pretty but we're harder to play against with a narrower formation and it's that formation and zonal press that is making other sides cough up possession repeatedly and allowing us to create chances even without looking like we're playing well. The results don't flatter us except maybe wolves... but we deserved at least a point probably more against leicester. Is there much to improve? Of course, he's only been here a month. Hopefully, we stay up he gets a refreshed squad and a full pre-season to see what he can do. In short... it's possible Bielsa would have got the same results or even better. It's also very possible he wouldn't. And we'll never know.
The in increase in bonus is because has nothing to do with Radz deciding to spend more on wages than players. The increase is because we brought in players to keep us up and some players are on a big wage. Theres also more staff employed at ER and TA and the bonus is shared around everyone. On the Bielsa/Marsch argument we will never know. My own view is that we are improving because key players are coming back from injury, Bielsa never had that
good afternoon from a dull Bardsey In the close season I thinkmthat KP Raaphina and Mesliers will be sold to finance a rebuild We need a left back a rightt back a classy mid field player and a decent centre forward.I would not look at Barcelona reserves but young guns coming through the EFL
Lots of speculation about the role that the 49ers are playing this season. From being minor investors whilst we were in the Championship they've now increased their stake to just below 50% and jungle drums are beating loud and clear that a full take over is likely to happen at some point. What I'm thinking is, was their sporting knowledge absolutely key in making the change of coach ? They more than anyone will have had to make these tough calls before and they'd also be fully aware of the dangers of allowing a losing team to drift with indecision from above. Whether it was the right call may still be open to debate but at least they took action swiftly and had a clear plan and objective to get their new man in whilst giving him the best possible opportunity due to the upcoming fixtures. Now I get that it's the investment arm of the 49ers who are our co-owners but they'll still have all that sporting knowledge and experience to draw upon you'd have thought. Also and I posed this question on another thread, if the 49ers are in this to grow their investment (and make a return) then what will their strategy be in the medium to long term and ultimately will they be seen as good custodians of our club if they do become our outright owners ?
Are there ANY good U.S owners in England? Genuine question as the ones I have heard of have been shocking.
Not sure but Fenway Sports have redeveloped Anfield as well as winning the title and Champions League. Of course some won't be happy though.
49ers built a new stadium. They are now the best at marketing and increasing spend per customer/fan. Fan enjoyment key, but the are also specialists in broadcast rights, negotiations and fully up to speed NFL owning their own broadcasting. Us involvement within the prem increasing yearly, so dont be surprised to see LUTV updated and real negotiations to get rid of sky/BT…
Most of the 'staff' left with Bielsa. Only the GK Coach Marcos Abad and the two analysts stayed put. Leeds have used 30 players this season, but eight of them have played little more than 90 minutes or less.
Just had a look at like for like. So 6 fixtures under marsch (3 home 3 away) and the same reverse fixtures earlier in the season uner Bielsa. In terms of injured players... Cooper played in 5 of the 6 under bielsa and phillips only 2 of the 6. . Coops has played under 2 for marsch and kp 2 x 25min spells. 6 games under marsch - 10 points: av xg for: 1.88 av xg against: 1.19. Under bielsa - 9 points: 1.46 xg for and 1.18 xg against ... so very little in it - we've actually created better opportunities under marsch and nothing in it defensively although bielsa had more 'key players' available for respective fixtures.
I can guarantee you that if Bielsa still had been in charge we would have lost those games and not only would we have lost those games, but we would have been crushed.
Ost of the staff didnt leave with Bielsa. Only first team staff that came with Bielsa and who Bielsa paid for left with him. There are countless coaches at TA Elland, medics, physios, education…..the people working at ER, the shop, on-line, digital, marketing, groundsmen, fkg loads of people employed by the club, even community workers
Would you honestly expect the people working in the club shop to get their slice? The people you are referring to, if they do get a bonus, it will be miniscule. I'd go as far as saying that main coaches aside (apart from Rob Price) nobody would get more than a 20k bonus. Collectively it would be under a 1m guaranteed.
I don't know about crushed, but i reckon we would have struggled to obtain the seven points, with the way things were.
Off topic, but can someone help? i want to change my signature, from the futures bright the futures white, can't seem to find a way of doing it
