To get in the mood for some Jam and Style Council stuff, we decided to start the night in the 80’s, so went to The Lantern.

Just out of interest how was the audience made up at the Paul Weller gig? I'm guessing mostly male and over 40 but I hope I'm wrong!

The Lantern's down Whitefrairgate, it had it's last refit in 1976, but the food's actually very good.

King Edwards is next to Admiral on Anlaby Road.

Plenty of women there, but the audience was mostly over 40.

The Latern's a Greek restaurant (though all I ever see anyone eat there is steak and chips).

The majority of people who go there are older and have been going for decades, so I thought they probably wouldn't score very highly on Trip Advisor, as they're less likely to give online reviews. But I just looked and it's got 216 Excellent and 46 Very Good, from 290 reviews. Quite impressive for a place that looks exactly the same as it did when it opened in 1964 (which is half its charm).

Simple Minds, Blondie and UB40 all coming up soon, best book into The Lantern for the full retro experience, after show parties at Spiders.

I got them, first and last I'll ever see Debbie Harry and they've thrown in Johnny Marr as well, Bonus Arena has been a big success so far.
