The Ferrari is bouncing on the straights, but once it's in the corner it's totally settling and they're stable. The Merc is still bouncing through the turns. It looks like a real handful.
I have the feeling after today that the Merc PU is not uncompetitive. It seems only to be the chassis. If Merc get the car overall to be competitive by say, end of May, we could have a great season of competition with as many as 6 or 7 potential race winners in competitive cars. Why 7? (thinking Norris or Alonso even).
Well, Verstappen is turning into a real whinger! Lewis moans about his tyres a lot but really we only get to hear some of what is said on the radio. Except for te ocassional broadcast I tend to not to read to much into the radio transmissions.
Norris has really developed his confidence in the last couple of years. He is a young driver who is showing enormous promise. With the right car he is capable of winning a championship. Danny, does seem to have lost his way. He hasn't shown the adaptability but that may not be because he has lost it. He has had a difficult 3 years (2 different teams, 3 teams in 4 years). I think he needs stability. I believe if he stays with Mclaren he will settle into a rythm and start to perform.
They have a second to find in there somewhere..The porpoising issues count for a chunk of that, but there seems to be issues all over the place. Braking, traction out of corners, overall balance... I'm not sure a good first sector or a good speed trap time gives them a lot to be hopeful about.
Should kept him on mediums for the start, typical Ferrari but looks like it's more car problems then he's fault.
Gutted for Carlos- the last thing he needed was a DNF with your team mate leading the championship- could find himself de facto second driver before too long and I think he knows that hence the pressure on himself.
Ferrari really messed that strategy up. Eaten alive. Very disappointing race so far. Farrinwin in a canter as predicted but the lack of racing as mclaren seem content to not even try pass and then merc left Russell behind Hamilton so it's a boring Drs train. All the track changes seem to have failed to generate anything bar a drs pass by drs to turn 1 them really pass at turn 3 if you have a car to do so. It's largely a procession so all we have is pit stop drama to come.
All reacting to verstsppen and perez. Perez needed up behind Hamilton again Perez blew by and now a safety car for vettel parking it. Russell might be huge beneficiary here.
Red bull seem to be eating tyres so Ferrari win. Merc 2/3 as they pass red bull later on?? Alonso in 4th but trapped with no pit stop. Disaster for him
Poor restart but nobody can pass here. Nobody seems to really be able to follow very closely either Drs turns 1 and 3 are the only pass = fake racing. Alonso on old tyres getting eaten alive. Disaster for him.
