I get why people want everton to go down and that's why they want Burnley to win, bur deep deep down inside we all know Everton have a better side than the correct bottom 3 and will stay up. We might aswel further Everton and just hope nufc stays up at the earliest.
Another thing that happens towards the end is unexpected results and I fully expect ****housery from clubs.
I'd say so, I felt if Everton lost today then they could and probably would be caught and it may give Burnley a target to catch them. I now think the bottom 3 as is, will be the 3 to go. Burnley to overhaul us would need to achieve 3 wins and a draw just to draw level - They've won 4 all season (29). That's with us not getting another point. Yes it's mathematically possible but with games running out its looking more and more unlikely. I'd say Norwich and Watford are now gone but would expect them now to possibly get a result or 2 at home simply playing for pride with the pressure off them. Draws now work for us, they don't work for teams like Burnley at this stage of the season.
If we lose to Leicester and Palace you'll see the gap is all but gone by then. Nufc are not safe if Burnley win tomorrow they're a definitely not safe yet. Get 4 points and maybe we're then safe
I just don't see why everyone suddenly think Burnley are going to rip the form book up and win their remaining games.
You could have said the same thing about us back in beginning of January. We strengthened, but at this stage it only needs a run of wins and they actually have some winnable fixtures coming up. I reckon we need another 6pts to be safe, coming into the final match against them.
I get that bit, but when we did it there was just under half a season to go, we are now very very much in the home straight where each game ticks by without them winning is a game closer to us being mathematically safe without picking up any points ourselves.
Our good run lasted 9 games - they have 9 games left. We picked up 21 points. They do the same it would put them on 45 points. Very dangerous to assume they are not going on a run because they only have a few games to do it in. However if they don’t win today it would be a major psychological blow to them and would mean they have to get the points from harder games.
There's no such thing as not being under pressure when you're mathematically relegated. Every player is then considering if they are going to be looking for a new club, dropped, or have a chance to prove themselves in the league below. So they're under pressure. Then you have the home crowd thinking you're a bunch of hopeless mongs the rest of your games, which adds a considerable amount of pressure. So, Norwich and Watford will still be feeling it every single game. They won't just think "oh man we're down and now this is a doddle. Premier League games are easy!" Burnley are the only team I'm worried about, but I'm not as worried about them as Everton fans are, or Leeds fans, or Brentford fans. Who are all three on less points than us and one of them has even played one game more than us. I think if we can beat Wolves, we will be getting more points too along the way.
Except we had a new’ish manager whose impact was just kicking in and then signed a number of players in January that did make a difference eg Trippier, Burn and Taggart and then had a number of winnable games. Burnley have one of those.
I seem to remember they have gone on similar runs the last couple of years. And everyone (or @Roland Deschain anyway) said they got the best of the deal when they bought in Weghorst as a replacement. Note: Wood has been twice as prolific as Weghorst though.
Thanks to this thread I want Norwich to win today - to stop potential Champions League quality form Burnley and Everton from relegating us!
