Spurs are a work in progress. There are flaws and inconsistencies. But the curve is now upwards and Conte has improved the team in a number of areas. There is a definite plan and way of playing, which the new signings have enabled. An ability to score freely is the best way to mask any weaknesses at the back. Contrast to Utd who don’t have any consistency in selection, any game plan, intensity, work ethic or team spirit. Swap managers and it would be the opposite way round.
What a superb win. Needed Kane and Kulu to step up in the 2nd half and they certainly did. But my god Sons finishing was world class. Scoreline flattered us for sure but Villa away is a very tough place to go. Fantastic Saturday for Spurs and we are definitely in the driving seat. I just can't see any team stopping our front three at the moment. Happy days.
He would appreciate the bully boy tactics Villa tried to employ. The fact that Spurs stood up to them and went on to win is not to be underestimated. 'The Lads it's Spurs' label has been severely challenged and I put that down to Conte. If we'd had that mentality the season when Leicester won the league it might have been us at the top. Is rcl about? whisper it ....... If Conte is with us for a couple of seasons we will be challenging. I never said that! It wasn't me guv.
Hats off to Hugo for his first half performance, which enabled us to go in at HT a goal up. Second half was a terrific performance, and we deserved the victory, despite what Sourness and Barren Dent think. Villa mirrored their manager as a player by being let off with some dangerous tackles, a couple of times they went in overly aggressive on the follow through and the referee turned a blind eye, just like what Slipper G used to get up to on the pitch, and that cynical hacking down of Kane by Gashley Young was a borderline red card also. To rub salt in, the referee booked Hojbjerg for a tap on Coutinho`s shoulder. In short, dodgy first half, great second half, good goalkeeping which heavily influenced the game in our favour, and poor refereeing. Hopefully this run continues. COYS
Just got home from a truly lovely day spent celebrating 3 family occasions. It was probably the first time we've managed to get together since pre lockdown and made a 'no phones' rule in honour of the occasion. Just turned my phone and bloody hell...a special weekend just got even better. Beaming.
Remember a little over a year ago where we'd end the first half 1-0 up, and then come out for the second half looking like the manager just murdered the team's childhood pets instead of giving a team talk?
