Cabaye would already be classed as a superstar if one of the top 4 had signed him before us. Sad journalism really.

Delap obviously. Best throw in in world football. Barca can't compete with that, especially on a cold Tuesday night

He's a one trick pony. Yes, he's got a good throw in that causes issues for defences but he's fairly average as a player overall.

Was it Wenger who brought the advertising hoardings closer to the pitch so he couldn't get his run up?

yes i beieve it was. i'm sure paul jewell was ultimately the one that ended up finally sussing out how to combat it by leaving a couple of players on the half way line so that they could break quickly meaning that they couldn't pile everyone into the box making it easier for the keeper to come and claim it. i seem to recall it wasn't as prevalent after that was twigged on to.

The thing is, the only thing that is getting more boring than the same tripe the pundits throw out week in week out is the amount of threads on here crying about them. 'Nobody loves us, the southern media are soooo mean to us' etc. Who cares? Let them have their say and hopefully our lads will respond with more top performances on the pitch. We all know that there are certain pundits with allegiances to certain teams, but does that really justify a new thread every week about what Lawro and Merson have dared to predict? If they predict a defeat against City I wouldn't be surprised to see comments berating them.

To be fair mate,in this thread, I wasn't moaning about Merson not liking us (although he clearly states hes an avid fan) or the fact that his prediction was stupid (farily sensible for a change). This thread is more to do with his lack of knowledge and me questioning his football "expert" title and ultimately why his employment with SKY even exists!!!

Fair enough mate although it was inevitable that it would descend into such. The lack of knowledge of pundits in general is galling, even more so when you take into consideration the amount of money they get paid to do what pretty much every bloke does with his mates in the pub; watch then talk about football.

What annoys me more is the way they are allowed to convey information. I know Soccer Saturday has gone for the 'matey' approach but the people on it now are almost becoming parodies of themselves: Merson is a buffoon who overuses cockney rhyming slang at every opportunity. Thompson is unbelievably biased and often ignores the game he's supposed to be commenting on in order to watch the bin dippers. Windass and Kamara are both just idiots.

I know people laugh at their buffoonery at times, but it gets on my nerves that the mis-pronunciation of names and general lack of research is laughed at and almost celebrated.

I tried that once and then thought I'd best turn off when I had on overwhelming urge to gouge my ear drums out with a coat hanger, plus his bug eyes scared miniOT.

I love how he makes the most obvious comment ever, yet makes it sound like he has just come up with some ground-breaking theory. He is far too intense!

I loved his comment about a player a few weeks back. Garth described how he got the ball, charged towards goal and was one on one with the keeper but missed and then Garth imparted his words of wisdom to the world with, "He could have scored".

A perfect example. He also appears to hate the views of any female pundit. I remember G. Logan hosting once and everything she said he dismissed immediately.

Gabby: 'Now Garth, that was a great game of high quality football.'
    Garth: 'It lacked quality.'
Gabby: 'Ok, but it was a great game of football.'
Garth: 'I disagree, I thought it was in fact poor, not great.'
Gabby: 'Fair enough. It was a game of football.'
Garth: 'Sorry woman, wrong again, it was in fact rugby.'

(scenario concocted purely for amusement reasons)

He can't even be arsed to check that we didn't pay a transfer fee for Ba. Muppet! <doh>

I read that paragraph and thought "what a stupid thing to say". Should we put the league on hold for teams like Stoke who are playing in Europe?
