Made me laugh from the commentators as we came out for the 2nd half....."we need to go at them, maybe we will get a 2nd, a 3rd or even maybe a 4th" and that was before they had a player sent off... The only worse thing than watching our poor performances is listening to the dribble coming from them!!
didnt think it would be easy ... lucky to get a draw? Really is a good pointer of our form if POSH go and pick up 15 points now!......
For me today it was completely unacceptable against bottom of the table Peterborough. The discussion is Nigel Pearson or the players at fault. For me eleven players on the pitch were not good enough. Non of those players are top end championship standard and none are any where near premiership standards. If NP is going to take this rebuild on and not walk then as far as I’m concerned he can rebuild the whole team. Bentley is the cause of the slow play -more interested in shouting at his team mates-takes ages to get the game going again. Vyner league one at best Atkinson looks to be getting better and more confident. Klose is class but age is against him. Cundy was poor today not sure if he is the answer or championship standard. DeSilva had a reasonable game but is not a left back-a wing forward I would say. Williams you will not get a season out of him-injury prone. James has not been the same player since he came back from injury maybe he is hiding issues that need sorting-does not look fit. Messengo gives the ball away to easily and cannot score goals. Alex Scott is hot or cold but still young-I’m sure will improve. Andi Weimann I’m sure would have got his 20th goal today had he not been pulled down-without his 19 goals city would have been relegated-player of the season. Antoine Semenyo I’m sure will get better however he needs to learn when to pass and not shoot.Exciting prospect. Chris Martin works hard for the team and creates chances for others but need to score more goals as a number 9. Nahki Wells has had many opportunities since he has been here but again just does not deliver in the red shirt. Who ever is in charge they have a monster job on their hands Bristol City FC are a million miles from competing at the top of the championship.
NP very critical again of some players attitude, either they change their attitude, or he’ll change the players. I’m not sure how he’s going to do that with no money , I know they’ll be lots of free’s available but we still need to offer wages to any decent players to compete with other clubs. He did suggest another option, in that he himself gets changed, but said we’d still have the same issue with the players if that option is chosen.
Pearson casts doubt over his future We’ve got five games left and the players that are here can either be here next year, or not. That goes for me as well, if I’m not here, whoever comes in has got the same problem and that is getting players to play. We haven’t got a problem necessarily with quality, but the squad needs a shakeup. (From Bristol Post)
If he walks or get sacked the cancer is still within Ashton Gate-Just listened to his interview I agree with everything he said.
This is all down to SL allowing Ashton and LJ to piss the club to pieces, but hey its "his club and he can do what he wants" remember, Three managers have tried with the same players and we get the same results. Still maybe the next appointment will be another yes man who doesn't shake things up upstairs, yes sir no sir etc.
Exactly what I said Tom Pearson has already called the Lansdowns out. The club is a **** show at present needs sorting-I hope Nige will see it through or do we go back to it all being swept back under the carpet.
Not many teams have any/much money ffs, but are doing much better than us. You always make it sound like it's only us.
I think we all know this was MA being given to much of a free reign by SL that has caused the issue. That said, until COVID hit, the model was working, and I didn't see many on here complaining when we were buying low and selling high...
I am getting tired very quickly of Pearson blaming the players, the Landsdown's, and basically anyone but him. The buck stops with him as the manager, we have been an absolute joke defensively this season, that is down to him and his coaches. They have made us worse defensively than at any point since we got promoted. His signings have been hit and miss Tanner - Hard to tell due to injury, but surely one for the future Atkinson - Looks good, but let's not forget we paid a L1 club £1.5m for him, a hell of a lot of money in this market Klose - Not the dominant ball winner and defensive leader I had hoped he would be (and we desperately needed). Barely any better defensively than what we already had, but is better on the ball playing out from the back for sure Simpson - Absolute oxygen thief who stole £10k a week from City King - Reminds me of Marcus Stewart, gave it big licks when he joined about it being his boyhood club, but he isn't fit, or at all bothered about getting fit to play IMO. James- His best signing The reality is, for all his experience, Pearson has barely done any better than Dean Holden. The only reason we are not in a relegation dogfight is down to 2 teams getting points deductions, not due to anything Pearson has brought to the table.
You always do agree with him, so no shock there. However todays showing was a complete load of bollocks, and has been like that for week/ months. We’ve not moved on anywhere in 18 months. If he wasn’t so stubborn we could have got some loanee’s in. His stubbornness will be his downfall.
I just can't agree we have the quality. Perhaps we did a few years back but the best were sold and only Webster proved to be a good replacement. Then he was sold and like the others of quality sold we employed poor replacements on ridiculous contracts. The poor decision of January 2008 not to back Gary Johnson was the start of poor decisions from on high. They chose to sack Cotterell, employ Ashton and Johnson with the idea of selling our best and replace with young players who could be sold on for profit. It was a policy that failed miserably. I don't see a way of staying in the Championship next season. I think we're f****d.
I'm still unconvinced that his setup of teams and tactics are all that either... His interviews are also hot and cold.....one minute he puts on a convincing spill and then the other minute he sounds and looks totally uninterested, if he's like that on the training field it's no wonder we have mixed performances.. By the sound of Ashton Gate today, the fans are becoming restless and marking his cards....it needs to become better soon..
It depends what the definition of quality is, and the expectation; Do we have the quality of squad to push for Play-Offs and promotion - No, absolutely we do not Do we have the quality of squad to be better than 18/19th - Yes, I believe we do, we should be comfortable mid-table IMO I 100% agree with the 2008 comment, I have said it over and over again what a poor decision that was. It's easy with hindsight now to say it was a failed policy (although I did not like it either btw), but it worked for 3 years, only COVID blew it up.
we cannot keep blaming the past . . . . . .we are in a new era that is suppose to working better than now. WE should draw a line under what LJ achieved , which was quite a lot. Draw a line under DH /PS /KD they left us far far better off than now. NP wanted his own staff, was told no and took an opportunity to bring in "some old mates" and has basically failed. We have to go with what we have got, NP said he was happy with what he could keep and binned 15 or so! So either not a good judge or something drastic has changed, using threats will do no one any good, again he threatens to leave!! OK by his own words if someone doesnt want to be here then .... travel and sex is his answer! ... He made the same /similar statement about PS .... " I DONT CARE IF HE STAYS OR GOES " ...... At one point I had rated him from 5/10 to 8+/10, sitting back in the sun cup of tea and biscuit reading the reports and speech's and suchlike I dont think he is the answer .... I dont know who I would get to replace him .... we now have no one on the staff to step up ... basically we are a despondent mess
I think he was saying, back me or sack me. If you sack me though don’t be surprised when the next manager has the same issues I’m having.
