Back in 1989 my elder sister was about 11 years old and a massive U2 fan. She went to see them at Elland road with my dad and during the concert Bono shone a huge lights on the crowd. He picked my sister up with it and held it on her whilst talking to her from the stage, because she was so young. Needless to say she was ecstatic and weeks after the concert she decided to write to him and also explaining that she was the one who he shone the light on. Weeks and weeks later a big Green cardboard envelope arrived at our house with U2 stickers all over with the caption "Rock and Roll Ireland", written on the front of it. Inside of it was a personal letter from Bono saying he remembered her. On top of that he put loads and loads of memorabilia in, random stuff like the sign from the dressing room door, and he'd also done a cut out of all the band members and drew speach bubbles from their mouths making abit of a comedy sketch. There's finger prints all over the stuff he put in, and he even goes on to say- P.s- sorry about the finger prints, im eating a Hamburger as i do this for you. There's loads and loads of other stuff that he sent aswell includind 2 tickets front stage to a concert, and backstage passes. Unfortunately due to circumstances at the time she never made the concert, so they are all in the Green envelope amongst all the other stuff he sent. I had a conversation with her last night, and shes now decided to try and do something with it all. Does anybody think itd be worth much, and if so how would she sell it all??
And here's me under the impression the bloke is a stuck up ****er! For no reason other than a vibe I get off him whenever I see him in the telly etc... But I concede that isn't a very stuck up ****er thing to do, the complete opposite actually! No idea about price etc like!
Ive just text her again to ask her again what was in it. Here is her relpy... It has all those sheets of hotels stayed in amd conversations with management. Dressing room poster with boot print. Programmes, the letter from Bono, back stage passes and tickets and that photo of the roadies with the captions stuck on a pic of the times for the day with what time other bands playing.
He was later on once the fame from America went to his head. He was a pretty decent humble bloke when U2 were up and coming
What's the difference between God and bono? God doesn't walk around Dublin thinking he's bono. Great story Tees personally I'd say keep it, at least until he pops his clogs!
My sisters starting a new Chapter in her life mate, so if its worth anything the money would be good for her. If its worthless then fair enough, itd be interesting to know though, especially as it has DNA evidence that he actually done it lol
I think it could be worth a bit to a collector as its not just random stuff that they can get their hands on. Value, I've no idea, but it's quite a personal thing he has sent. Fair play to the bloke, I too thought he was a bit of a bellend. Liked U2 up until the Joshua Tree album., not so much after. A good place to start might be a U2 fans forum, there's sometimes a classifieds section on them. Might get some idea of value....ie autographs, letters etc.
https://www.hollywoodmemorabilia.com/celebrity/Bono Seems some stuff is valued quite high, other stuff not so much. Not much help from me I'm afraid. Think she might need to look into getting it authenticated if she is going to make any actual coin but **** knows how she goes about that.
Sorry lads,I'm killing time before the match........so,this is a girl who 30 years ago bumped into a still alive Rock star who afforded her back stage passes, photos, copies of tickets etc. and who is now looking for money......for what? ......and,there is DNA evidence it was him........****ing hell. What a load of ****e! Greed,is all. There's no memorabilia here until he passes and his fan club start to resurrect in their grief! I'd run out of paper if I listed the bands these girls have been after in my era...trying to make something up from something which doesn't exist. I bumped into Ayrton Senna at a Brands Hatch testing day many, many years ago....we had a brief chat....no mobiles in those days of course...I just enjoy the memory without thinking about any financial value, which of course there wasn't any. Greedy bastards....just out for what they can get, every ****ing time.
Jesus ****ing christ you are a ****ing **** of a human to react like that with little to absolutely no idea of the girl's situation. Some times it's ok to shut the **** up and not be a **** when everything you have to say is utterly ****y.
Wow, what a horrible kunt you are ranting about somebody's sister who you dont even know what she's been through and still going through. I tell you what you horrible prick, this is personal now, send me your phone number in my inbox, lets meet and sort it properly. Youve overstepped the mark massively here mate, i will rip you f#cking throat out!
Well, you wouldn’t be able to do that, but, I’m very sorry if I’ve upset you and offended you in any way…. that was certainly not my intention.
Not your intention? Ive made a thread on my sisters behalf, someone who you dont even know or understand her personal situation and you write a post like that? Ill f#cking kill you mate, give me a number and let me meet you
Fair play to him there mind. He didn't have to do that. And I'd imagine that stuff will be pretty valuable
