I'm confident we're safe now. Not mathematical, but unless we go on the worst run ever, we're safe mate. I'm impressed with the way we bossed the game. I am a bit disappointed we didn't score more, but the lack of forward play from Wolves meant they dug deep and just hoped for a counter attack goal, big mistake. I'm impressed with some of play with the long balls we get into the back, and how we can provide a threat from different sources. Ratings - Dubravka - 7.5 - Good saves, good firm aerial command. Krafth - 7 - Solid Schar - 5 - Not bad, but made some clanger mistakes. Burn - 7.5 - Solid Targett - 7.5 - Solid and a decent threat going forward. Bruno - 8 - MOTM - Class player. Not only is his passing good and his ability to keep possession and win clever free kicks, but I'm impressed with his defending also. He's literally an all rounder. Great interceptions, good pressure and tackles, good passing. Shelvey - 6 - Some sloppy play to give away the ball, but made some good long range passes at times. Joelinton - 7 - I like his performance today. He wasn't on fire, but dug in deep, worked hard, and got a great assist. ASM - 6.5 - Some people will have a go at him, but in reality he was often our best threat if we're being honest. Lots of good runs in behind the defence, just unfortunately lacked a final ball. Lucky not to give it away in crucial positions. Frustrating player. Wood - 7 - Good performance. Unlucky not to have 2 goals, some good runs in behind, great to win and score the pen. Fraser - n/a Almiron - 6.5 - Decent performance, lacked a final ball, but good runs in behind and not bad link up play.
Joelinton was more than a 7, a comfortable 8. And nudge Bruno up to 8.5. ASM can just about get a 6 for his part in the goal, otherwise he was too much of a liability.
Nice to see us hold on and grind out a 1-0 win. Usually we throw it away in these situations. We were nowhere near our best, but equally Wolves were well under par for how they've played this season. I think we caught them at a good time. For once I genuinely don't care about player ratings. We got the win and that's really all that matters. A massive 3 points. It takes us a huge step closer to survival - and hopefully that means some of these players won't feature next season. Which is why I'm not fussed about ratings. I know that sounds a bit harsh, as they've done their job - and I'm genuinwly grateful for that. But some will simply not be part of the longer term project. And some won't even be part of the next phase, which starts this summer. Hopefully we can enjoy the rest of this season and look forward to some step changes in some personnel in the summer.
It was one of the most boring matches I have seen in years. Wood didn’t really do that much until his penalty incident. He was also offside for the the goal chalked off. Looks a confidence player. Which is fair enough. ASM though is mighty frustrating. Miggy huffed and puffed. I highlight these 3 players because if we are to progress next season we need 2 replacements of superior quality.
Yesterday - we’re going down. All panic Today - we’re safe. And breathe More flip flops on this forum than in a run down seaside shop
Didn’t watch the match but……. Miggy - he’s ****, he played ok, he played well Wood - scored 2 technically (definitely wasn’t offside) which everyone has been clamouring for him to do as apparently that’s his only job and he still gets pelters ASM - he’s ****, he was ok, he was part of the build up to the goal so he must be great because he interacts with the fans and has some ****e board game Krafth - he’s a solid defender, nah he’s ****e, no he’s improved but still rubbish Schar - I know DPP keeps telling us he’s ****e in a back 4 and yes he was ****e yet again in a back 4 but but but……. Joelinton - last year regardless of how he played was always a 4, since Howe regardless of how he plays he gets at least a 7 despite people calling him **** all the first half
I just watched the highlights and based on that Wood was 10, Almiron 5, and St Maximin 2. Dubravka was an 8. The rest were all 0. Apart from Shelvey who was -4.
I actually wrote it quite quickly, Trev. I think it says more about your reading ability. Take it steady old chap.
Australians call flip-flops 'thongs" - which might explain Albert's rather 'interesting' beachwear look.
