yea they probably should. I don't know about you trammers, but if i've bought a house and lived in it for 9 years, i'm pretty sure that would be my "home". Hell this flat i live in right no that i've been living in for 6 years is my home (not the one i grew up in for 18 years). Anyway, do i really care, not really as in the grand scheme of things the tax that she will have to pay is trivial compared to what the government spends so has no affect on the tax i will have to pay. If it helps towards changing the non-dom rules that would be great but my spider senses tell me nothing will happen. Just like most things, i'll keep an interest but in reality non of this really affects my day to day so whatever happens i won't stress too much about it
lol, why are you looking for politics mate, you got rid of all that further up . welcome to this board though, it's actually a pretty good board and representative on the whole from all spectrums for the most part. there are both tories and lefties as well as some more rogue elements (staines) but it's pretty good
She's taking the piss, mate. Perhaps the Chancellor of the Exchequer should be asked to adjudicate on her status. Oh, wait a minute... Apparently, up until a couple of years ago, both she and Little Rishi had Green Cards signifying that they were permanent residents in the US. But Diane Abbott....
I don't even know how I ended up here lol...think I was on live activity, and something Trammers said caught my eye, I did think he was right in someways, but I fancied playing devils advocate for a few seconds....anyway, I'm off now, before all the riff raff follow me here.
to be fair, she's done the right thing here in changing her status and good on her. If it had been a couple of other tories, they'd have just feigned ignorance to the public outrage and ignored the story and let it all go away in a few weeks time
were they on your blanket after watching the weather forecast or after kiwis post of the news anchors?
Nah, it's down to HMRC to adjudicate on Domicile, nowt to do with her husband as well you know........ Agree that they were both rather stupid not to renounce the "Green Card" thingy once they moved from the States even though they were in India for a number of years before settling in the UK......... Even more so once he became an MP and then Chancellor......... Also don't disagree with Ubes about perception, however it's still her right to have had the Non Dom status, the days of the wife being a chattel of the husband have long gone in the tax system......... Presumably the tax she pays in India on her dividends goes towards funding public services there..........
Havent done the research and dont plan to but i read on another forum she pays her tax in mauritius which is free of dividend tax. Okay i just looked it up, just skimmed it but theres a company out there that she owns which owns some business (may not have the infosys shares to be fair). I don't think anyone will be able to know where she pays her tax on the infosys dividends she collects.
So if I move back but say I going back to nz I could be a non Dom What are the benefits of being a non Dom other than not paying UK tax on money not earned in the UK If bob rents out his holiday home does he pay tax twice or just in Portugal
It’s an inclusive board ffs we’ve even got @BobbyD despite his poor choices when it comes to west London football teams.
Apparently the bad guys have fired missiles into a train station full of the woman and children of the slightly less bad guys
So who has released all this info about Sunak and his wife. It seems they hasn't done anything wrong. Starmer is a careful, perhaps over cautious lawyer, would know that...and so has been quite measured in his response. Boris saying to camera, we should not be attacking a politicians (Sunak) wife This is a blue on blue attack isn't it.
