A week or so ago it was reported that Lyon were looking to take him on a season-long loan next season

Okay, now here's an alternative: Maxence Caqueret and Moussa Dembele are both contracted until the summer of 2023, so how about some sort of cash-plus-Nom Belly deal involving one (or even both) of them? There's a certain feasibility to that (unlike Lucas Paqueta, who does look well suited for Conteball, but is contracted until 2025)

And a swap deal for Lo Celso with Pau Torres. <whistle>

Moussa Dembele II counts as homegrown, which would be handy.

Dan KP reckons Skipp’s new deal will be worth £80k a week.

But with the good news aside, Skipp’s apparently suffered another setback and will return to training indoors for the time being… Ffs.

Josko Gvardiol is once again getting linked...although it is The Pathetic and they're claiming we're willing to offer £54m, a fee which sounds remarkably unlikely

Romano says Villarreal really happy with Lo Celso and plan to open talks to keep him next season… which presumably sounds like another loan.

**** off and pay us a permanent fee!

“Tanguy Ndombele expects Tottenham return after Lyon loan with French club not planning to take up £54m option”

We knew that was the case anyway but reading it still is depressing.

Hopefully Villarreal wins the CL, that should give them the dough to at least sign Lo Celso and get one duffer out.

There's no way we're recouping anything close to what we wasted on him. The departures of Lo Celso and Ndombele will in part be a measure of how seriously Levy intends to back Conte. The manager wants them out, he wants to clear their spots in the squad and wages from the wage bill. Sell them to the highest bidder or at the very least agree another loan with wages fully covered. We cannot allow a situation where a new manager is made to suffer the appalling decision making of his predecessors.

We did it for Poch when he was allowed to sell the likes of Paulinho and Soldado at a loss, and with the greatest respect he isn't fit to comb Conte's toupee.

I'm optimistic that the club will bite the bullet and take a huge loss on Lo Celso, Clarke and Ndombele (I think Conte wants to give Sessegnon a chance).

We paid Aurier to go and gave Dele away and apparently did not ask for loan fees for Ndombele and Lo Celso so there is clearly an understanding that we need to get rid of established players that the manager does not want around.

Like I said, gotta hope Villarreal win the CL, that could allow them to buy Lo Celso. If they don’t, then hopefully they make a lowball offer and we accept just to bin him off.

But Ndombele? We’re ****ed there I feel. Gonna probably need to Aurier/ Dele him.

I don't know, Dembele and Caqueret entering the final years of their contracts might find a way to get the pricetag more into Lyon's range...

Plus another year of paying them wages etc just adds to the financial loss of them. Get rid of the pair of them no matter what it takes and then at the very least their wages aren’t costing the club anything.

Just wanted to update my Weasel Watch.

    I have a question fellas.

In your opinion, is it pure coincidence that the only current, non Man U, PL players that this WEASEL has interviewed, one on one, on The Overlap, just happen to be players that Man U are now 'linked' with?

    Kane, Phillips and Rice?

Do Man U, without Pogba and the others nearing the end of their contracts, and with all of the current instability at the club, have more chance than Tottenham of doing well in the PL or CL in the next couple of seasons?

Even if they don't sign these players? What if Spurs sign Eriksen, Bale? The other players on Conte's list?

The business end of this season is going to be very interesting if Man U don't get a CL spot, but Tottenham do. Will Gary and the weasel crew still be trying to convince the world that Man U is the better option for quick trophies? Or will he accept that; 'if you wanna win things you can't be at United right now?'

I wonder when the words would flow from his lips as effortlessly as they do when he speaks so lowly of Tottenham.

I take my hat of to Levy for playing a masterful game of chess, even if he lucked and fumbled his way through, to us arriving at a more solid structure and better managerial situation than Man U. I really hope Conte stays for longer than they all predict, and has major success next season.

    Fascinating stuff.

The emperor is getting measured up as we speak. <laugh>

Richarlison has come up, albeit from a bottom-feeding Brazilian source

As per usual, the usual two questions need to be asked
    i.) Where would he play?
ii.) Who would make way for him?

That's especially pertinent in his case considering this season he's mainly been a LW, and prior to that a CF - and those are the two positions we absolutely don't need to be looking to upgrade in, and certainly not to the tune of the £67m quoted by said bottom-feeding Brazilian source

    I) He wouldn’t
    II) No one

I’d rather re-sign Soldado or Janssen than go anywhere near that diving prick.

I can't stand Richarlison, despite him clearly being a talented player.
His attitude rubs me up the wrong way, he's a consistent diver and he's arrogant as ****.
I doubt he'd join a team where he wasn't in the first XI, either. Non-starter, I think.

If there's any Everton player we should be looking at, Anthony Gordon's probably the one I'd look at as not only can he play on either flank but he does have the makings of a WB in Conte's system

I think Gordon is quite “meh”. He’s been Everton’s shining light this season but I get the feeling he’s going to be one of those players who looks ok in a poor team but won’t ever be a top six calibre player. Reminds me of how Townsend was when he was younger, bit of hype and excitement but ultimately would only be a decent Prem player/ journeyman type (sorry, Andros!).

Cue this statement coming back to haunt me though when he becomes an all time great.

There’s no one I’d take from Everton to be honest, I would say Calvert-Lewin but he’s had his share of injuries and I’m not sure spending upwards of £50m on him would be a smart idea.
