Edit - We're safe. Everton Brentford (H) Palace (H) Arsenal (A) Burnley Spurs (A) Villa (A) Newcastle (H) Leeds Brighton (H) Brentford (A)
Almost every time the average points per game plays out like that. So we’ll be in danger a while longer but will end up around 40 points. It’s a shoot out with Everton and Burnley. I don’t think Everton have the bottle, and Fwank gives me no confidence at all that he can dig them out if it.
Need to get something in these next three games. Even a scrappy 1-0 and a draw will do to keep the gap.
I wanted Burnley to win last night, just to help Everton into the bottom three over the weekend, where I hope they'll stay. Ok there's a bit of risk that the teams below us will claw back the points that we have in hand. Very unlikely. We're suffering a confidence hit after a bad performance combined with guarded news on Wilson and Trippier's possible return. I've given up that Wilson will play again this season, but guess Trippier could return perhaps in the next month. Howe needs to get it into the players that we're not safe and need to give everything. I've faith that he'll accomplish that. But those three points are proving bloody hard to get.
Tbh I'm hoping nufc get the win tomorrow.. The longer it goes the harder it'll become. Nufc are not safe
With Watford v Leeds Norwich v Burnley Everton v Man U Things will potentially be clearer after the next round of fixtures After those games, they all have a run of tough fixtures Think we need to get to 36 points
Wolves don't have jiminez or nevez tomorrow. I think newcastle need to get a result fast and then it'll be easier.
I really think Everton have a massive problem. The worst run in Vs Burnley and they just don't look like they have the fight in them. We should be fine. Could do with something out of these next 3 games though.
Still have a sneeking suspicion that Everton will scrape out of it due to their home game results and the inadequacies of Watford, Norwich and Burnley. Had thought Leeds would go down but they seem to have pulled themselves together to avoid relegation.
Just one win is enough I think. If we can beat Wolves we are safe and I dont wanna see another anxiety thread like this one posted.
Everton really could pick up 0 points over their next five games - man u, liverpool, leicester, chelsea, leicester They have a run of 3 games to try and save themselves after that vs watford, brentford and palace and then arsenal in the last game of the season. They are ****ed. If they are cut adrift by the last 4 games I think morale will be down and a lot of their players thinking about summer moves before a world cup season... Burnley however have a much easier 5 game run now (only wolves and west ham in the top 10) and could be 6/7+ points clear of them by then. Then Villa twice, spurs and us to finish their season. Just can't see Everton out doing them over those run ins personally.
I think Everton will stay up tbh.. They always get results when they most need them...our game being just one example.. It won't surprise me if man united and Leicester **** up at Goodison. I also think the premier league will want Everton to stay up and make it happen.
"and with Mike Dean to ref all their remaining games, they should be ok" -- Mike Riley Head of the PGMOL
the one on Murphy was worse than either of their 2 against Burnley didn't Max not get one at Leeds for the same type of foul as their second pen ? edit -- it was Leeds stolen from NUFC.Com "Referee: Chris Kavanagh - first game of the season involving Newcastle for the Lancastrian official, who was in charge of our last away win - at Fulham in May." VAR Kevin Friend, who apparently reviewed the 85th minute incident when Allan Saint-Maximin went down in the Leeds area but saw no offence. That ludicrous non-decision is another example for those who suspect that refereeing and NUFC in 2021/22 is anything but a level playing field
