Watched the Saville documentary on Netflix tonight. Always thought he was creepy when I was a kid, really was a pervert.
What was really interesting was the way he escaped being caught. Very close to the police in Leeds, every Friday he had some of "his police friends" around to his penthouse flat for drinks. The Met. could have caught him but never linked 4 allegations they had received against him. They interviewed him over one case and the tape shows him being aggressive to the female detective interviewing him, basically him telling her he will end her career due to his connections to the police.
Very much so, and the letters from Saville's biographer showed a lot of correspondence with several members of the Royal family. He was also very close to Thatcher and she pushed hard to get him a knighthood, especially after he gave an interview about his days running nightclubs and how he would watch the bouncers beating people up that he took a dislike to!
his behaviour was common knowledge at the places he helped / visited / worked at right back in the 70's .
Dune is available on Sky from today. Next on my list after I finish The Godfather trilogy, although why I am punishing myself watching the third film is beyond comprehension!!!
