Ffs Eric you had me worried when you said midday kickoff as I’m going and I would’ve had to rearrange my whole morning schedule Now I can still leave home at 1pm phew!!
Did you do the same search with other players of our squad. I did Google search term - Dan James losing possession 19 times against Watford 18 times against Scum 13 times against Southampton 21 times against Everton Google Search Term - Raphinha losing possession 22 times against Aston Villa - two other articles say 23 times and 28 times 22 times against Leicester - another article says 29 times 21 times against Brighton Norwich - Lost possession with 46% of his touches Google Search Term - Stuart Dallas possession (Dallas losing possession brought up lots of articles about some cowboys and a weird shaped ball) 13 times against Wolves 34 times against Arsenal 19 times against Palace Google Search Term - Firpo losing possession 18 times against Villa 11 times against Spurs Google Search Term - Ayling losing possession 20 times against Leicester 22 times against Wolves 24 times against Brighton 36 times against Liverpool (This is not quite correct, as the article states that Ayling, Dallas and Struijk lost possession on 36 occasions)
Firstly Firpo, he’s the worst player to turn out for Leeds in the last five seasons, I’m never going to defend him. Losing possession, I’d bet money that Ayling and Dallas had three times more of the ball than Harrison. This would make a huge difference if possession lost was measured in percentage. Also Harrison is the only player to continuously play in his favoured wing position, Ayling CB and Dallas just about everywhere. Harrison has also been substituted in those games a few times around the 45 to 60 minute mark and just a side note, Jack Harrison has a 15% success rate on crosses, James 12% https://www.premierleague.com/players/33135/Jack-Harrison/stats simply not good enough, diabolical actually from the pair of them. Mate… I’d not be concerned if we moved on our entire front line this summer, I know it won’t happen but it wouldn’t bother me who goes. I’d like to see how James does on the left wing rather than striker but seriously, Raphinha, Rodrigo, James, Bamford, Roberts, Harrison we’d not miss any of them. Too injury prone, too many wrong decisions, too many misses, we’ve been poor in the final third for so long it’s almost become acceptable.
Surely, if you're a lover of stats, this data means that Firpo is the best of the bunch with the lowest average?
Don't start on crossing stats. Ask the best winger in the world to cross into a box that we're attacking & you're guaranteed he'll have similar stats. I've seen all of our wingers firing in sizzling crosses that are brilliant, but go right past the opposition goal as we either play midgets up front, are represented by incompetents, or have no-one active in the box. Or all 3, usually. There's 2 ends to a cross. Harrison usually gets his end right. The boys in the box waiting for it (if they get there in time) are the ones turning a good cross into a bad cross.
Just to add, Connor Gallagher tops the list, according to Sportskeeda it’s measured by successful crosses into a “Dangerous” area but how you define that is beyond me
I agree with you on Firpo, I just picked some names at random to do a search for to see what results I could get. It wasnt a state of me trying to prove that Harrison is no worse than any of those named, it was more of a case that (in my opinion) your search criteria was poorly judged, given that I could produce similar results with different players. Although I would be concerned more about our defenders losing possession than our attackers. The crossing stat isnt good, is it a case of them being poor or us not having anyone in the box with the physical presence to get on the end of crosses. Its probably a bit of both. For some reason the premierleague site doesnt give crossing stats for Raph. This is not a criticism, just an observation because its seems strange, especially given that they provide the info for James. I note that Ward Prowse has 25% accuracy, would it be the same with ourselves. Not expecting an answer to that its more of a rhetorical question I've said at best our squad is average, I am more than happy for everyone of them to be replaced by someone better, providing we can afford it. This has not been a case of me trying to prove to you that you are wrong about Harrison, hey its your opinion, but more about the information you used to support that. I make no pretence that I am a geek when it comes to discussing stats etc, but I find I rarely get an opportunity to make my long rambling posts on here. Thus when someone gives me the opportunity to have a proper discussion on here, I'm sorry but I just jump at the chance, and maybe unfortunately for you, you gave me the opportunity. Its also why Doc probably thinks I give him a hard time on some of his posts, but some of his posts are insightful and thought provoking enough for me to get involved. It's also probably why Wakey usually makes only one or two lines posts, because he knows that I am unlikely to reply to him with a wall of text
Lol not at all, its just that I only looked at the first page of results on a Google search, and the first 10 results for Firpo were all about those two games. I guess I should rephrase that I am a lover of stats that can be looked at and consider within a 5 minute period
Aski, come on up for a meetup sometime. I'll be more than willing to have a long geeky conversation. Then again, I'm not brainy enough to be a geek. LOL.
Evening all. I had to comment after reading through this thread. People are still asking for a CF, a number 9 a striker. Answer me this, Who are the strikers for Liverpool, Citeh, Manure, West Ham, Spurs (Kane plays more as a 10 now) etc? The days of the lumbering CF in the PL are long gone. Teams now have a front 3 like Liverpool do with Salah, Mane and Firmino, he's their nominated central player but they rotate. There just aren't enough Erling Haalands around. Teams play with AM players moving in and out wide to drag defenders out of position. For Liverpool the crosses come from their FB. We can't afford a better CF than Paddy.
If I could get a ticket I probably would, but as someone who doesn't drink nor hang around in tranny bars, the thought of driving 80+ miles to meet the bunch of degenerates that hang around on here doesn't quite have the appeal Then again I guess me and Shaks could hang around the jukebox, although with my choices in music that might not be such a wise decision either
I think yhe result tonight suited us btw. It keeps 4 teams in the **** below us and makes it extremely tough for the team nearest us. There is always one team that gets out and that could be Burnley. I still think they'll go down but they're fighting. We can't worry about them, we just need to beat Watford and the best news I'll hear is that Philips and Cooper start.
LOL. I don't drink very often myself these days. Only way I can be (partially) understood). Speaking of jukeboxes, I remember going to a pub in Aberdeen called the Blue Lamp. It had a jukebox stuck in the late 60s. You could pick 4 singles for 2 bob (old 10p pieces then - no idea if it's still the same). So much to choose from - Hendrix, Cream, Sabbath, Velvet Underground, Doors - you name the biggies of the time, they were on this jukebox. Suspect it's no longer there. Not been up for a few years.
I’ve got a Jukebox I had to go to Hull to pick it up. I can’t remember what I was paying for singles in the 80s but I know it wasn’t the £3+ going rate that it is now
It’s all good mate, like I said I plucked random stats out from one simple search, I didn’t analyse them, I only did it in the context of my reply to the comment that was made in regards to wanting wingers with “top stats”. It was partly me being funny/sarcastic that these were not the kind of stats I want them to be top of
