Incompetence or deliberately slow? I know what I think. It'd be interesting to hear from @ELLERS on this. The extra good news for the fortunate few is that the visas come with a picture of Michael Gove and Priti Patel. Don't know how Liz Truss could have missed out on that opportunity.
The proof will be in the eating. How many are taken in overall. The word "Home Office" and "Incompetence" have gone hand in hand since John Reid declared the Home Office not fit for purpose.
Indeed. It's been reported that it's those Brexit hating civil servants who are dragging their heels, through incompetence and possibly a failure to support policy. Whatever the reasons, I still feel the government should make refugees from Ukraine a special case as they are now fleeing the worst war crimes and destruction of homes seen since WW2.
I agree although the government has to be careful in making Ukraine a special case for fear of being called racist by not giving the same status to Syrians and other Middle Eastern, and African, refugees. It's an interesting question whether a host country owes a greater responsibility to help refugees from countries closer to it than it does to others farther afield. Does Poland owe a greater responsibility to Ukrainians than it would to Tongans if there was a tsunami in the South Pacific?
Of course! It's those damned Remainers! If the Home Office is dragging its feet, its doing the government's bidding. Don't forget the Great British public voted to keep foreigners out in 2016. This government is busy passing a law that would make asylum-seekers arriving here without visas criminals. It's what you voted for.
I caste out my line and you bite. I realise how it sounded, but I stand by it. An entire Country is being systematically flattened.
You didn’t see what happened in Syria I assume ?…..Homs, Aleppo, Raqqa ? I stand by my original assertion…..it’s different to a lot of people here purely because it’s happening to white people in Europe. Let’s be honest about it.
Now the ruskies are mass killing in Mali Europe middle east and Africa Better start digging a shelter down the bottom of the garden as it's only a matter of time before they get down this way
I’m honestly not trying to be argumentative and cause strife. I’m just saying that if any “disaster” happens either through war or natural catastrophe causing massive destruction and loss of life, we as human beings feel more akin with those affected if they “look like us”……it’s just human nature to feel like that, and we should admit it. It’s being honest with ourselves.
