Alex Dale If we lose Channel 4 we run the risk of shows like Naked Attraction and Made in Chelsea being replaced by lowest common denominator, commercial pap.
Just had the unfortunate experience of going through leeds/bradford airport. The ques were crazy. Luckily i know a few staff who speeded things up for us. They have pulled the managers out of the offices to help on security ffs. Supposed to be a minimum of 47 staff on yet they are running with just 13. Nobody wants the bloody jobs on minimum wage i was told. Poor shift hours, travel to and from isnt worth the hassle. Cant see it getting any better up there. I will be watching our game in a bar in Costa Teguise tonight though.
As you know I like to be proved correct…and this was exactly what I fore saw would happen at LHR with British Airways and said so years back. Get rid of as many of the old timers, loyal staff who were paid a decent wage and did a decent job above what they needed to do….and bring in cheaper labour, younger and less willing to do anything that is over what they need to do. Fast forward to today and there are now massive staff shortages and 100’s of flights being cancelled. I rest my case
Nadine Dorries - the actual Minister responsible - didn't know that CH4 was funded by advertising..... When Nadine Dorries realised Channel 4 is not paid for by taxpayers (thelondoneconomic.com)
BA we’re one of the first big companies to use “fire and rehire”….British Gas soon followed and no doubt there were others in the background. A ****ing shambles
Enjoy - lucky bastard! Fuxkong plasterers getting paid too much IMO.....can't get one for love or money up here at the moment, so if you've got time when you get home, I've a bathroom for you......
Maybe, but I cannot see that it's government business to own any TV channel. Free to air channels are on the decline so it'll be interesting to see what price it fetches.
Cheers Steels. Always getting the reatives asking me to go up to do some work. Have they seen the price of diesel !!!!!
My young ‘uns are definitely not academic in the slightest and to be honest struggle with study. Been telling them a trade would be a good thing to get into and plastering is good money. Hope they listen
I did a 1 week plastering course once at a building school down in Yeovil. Never been so knackered in my life. I improved but my work was still somewhat……”rustic”, in nature
Always got someone in to do most jobs, Wills. Tiling being one of them….I was always of the thinking that why spend 8 days doing a job myself badly when I could go to work for 4, earn the overtime and pay an expert do do a fantastic job in half the time. I only did the plastering course to get a bit of skills behind me….soon realised it wasn’t for me and it takes years of practice, something I wasn’t willing to go through.
Remember how self-congratulatory we all were when so many people came forward to register under.the Homes for Ukraine scheme? Remember Michael Gove getting all hot under the collar, saying he was 'sick and tired' of people saying that we were unwelcoming to refugees? Well, up to last Friday, the Home Office had issued just 2,700 visas under the scheme. What the ****? It seems to me that anti-refugee attitudes (and policies) are so ingrained in this Brexit government that it just can't pivot towards helping them.
21,600 visas have already been issued under the Family scheme. The Homes scheme is slow, agreed. Too slow. But the visas will come through.
